Default Taking down a classic...

On Friday night, I went to a local cruise. As I left I saw a 70 Mustang fastback in front of me. About a mile down the road he's in the left lane sitting at the red light. I pull up in the right lane. The light turns green and he floors it and is at least a car length in front of me. I slowly release the clutch and floor it. I shift into second and fly by him. I don't think he expected that to happen. I had a huge grin as I passed him. I'm pretty sure the car was a 351W.

Nice. I have a 65 Impala SS, 327 4 speed. Has headers, a cam, edlebrock intake/carb, 4.11 gears. It's a fun little ripper for it's day, but a bone stock LS1 or 3V Mustang is going to eat it alive. Probably what this Mustang was, very basic combo, great for burning rubber, but not much else.

Poor Crustangs. Nice kill!

My Supercharged GTP slaps all of them silly from a dig. Even newer GT500s.

Yeah man time marches on. Classic muscle cars were running 14 second 1/4 miles when they were new and “fast.”

Ha man I know. My first car was an ‘87 CRX (in ‘98/‘99) and it’s top speed was 115 or 120 down hill.. However, 115 mph felt like 180 in that little thing.
It’s also funny how archaic 20 year old cars feel today.

It was a 70 Mach 1 so I'm pretty sure it had a 351 W.

I like the mechanical feel...Yes, not like "new" cars.

Some people still think 14 second cars are sick fast. Like my buddy in his 2015 Explorer Sport. He's in his mid 30s.

A 14 second truck or SUV feels fast, a 14 second car, not so much. I used to feel like a 13 second car was fast, now it takes 11's.

I think it’s a 12 second maximum to be relevant these days.
