Default Ls1 vs. dodge dart

So I am on my way home from work at about 9:30pm sat. night catch a light next to a dart, he kinda sizes me up and gives me a nod. His car sounded like a 10 sec. car, I mean it was sweet!! I figured I'd try it just because. Light goes green and we nail it, my car hooks really well on the street so I was not concerned about that. He launches with what must have been a 4500 stall 'cause it got loud real quick. Stayed in it until the top of 3rd gear (about 1200 feet) but he could not get past me.

So at the next light he askes me how much nitrous I was running, my reply was all motor, He says" yeah I didn't have mine on either, wanna do it again?" Now when someone does that you know they are gonna spray it, And I was prepared to take my beating like a bitch. Well light goes green and he gets me by about 1/2 a car, I keeep in it suprised by the run, and actually start catching him!!!! By the time we let out he was out by about 3in so follows me to a car wash and was real cocky about the race, I told him I was not impressed and asked him how much nitrous he was pushing. He said 150, or enough to kick your ***. I inform him that 150hp hit would have left me cold and that he may have a problem.

So I get thisguy to my garage to see if I see anything that's not right with his kit. I find it to be extremely rich and rejet the system to proper spec's using my afr meter. Went for ride in the car, and holy **** it is fast!! He asked me to race once more to see the difference and I kindly refused due to fact he would destoy me this time!!

So.... one win, one loss, one happy dodge driver in the end!!
These are the races I don't mind losing

Nice Kill/Death.

BTW: Pretty cool of you helping the guy out. Thats the way it should be (IMO). Able to talk/give constructive criticism to each other. I hate "Cocky A-holes" that win or lose think that thier s**t don't stink.

Sounds like a great end to a fun night. I think it's great that you helped him out with his ride. The more fast cars out there, the better!

Great story. Takes a real man to help someone who acted so arrogant earlier. What mods do you have?

Any specs on the dart?

I'm guessing just a 360 with some factory heads and a big cam

thanks for the replies, The dart had a 340 with cast heads and an indy intake, He said they were ported but I couldn't tell you how much. My mods are all the free stuff, 4:10 gears, hpp3, recently changed exhaust ( borla muffler single in single out) drag radials, throttle body ported, lid, ram air mod, and a decent driver!

Well, a "340 ainst like a 360" or so they say!

But of course, some guy who things he has an old muscle car who has some "work" done will whup up on these new crap fuel injection cars. Oh how I love to show them up, evevn with a lowly 13 second LS1.

Those are the guys that say how crazy it is and say it's probably making like "500hp", yet they've never been dyno'd or been to the track.

I had a 71 stock 340 Demon...they were, generally, high 13 to mid 14ish stock but had potential for quite a bit more. Don't know much about specs but they had 2.02 intakes, angle plug heads and 10.5:1 cr. Mine had a big Carter TQ. It was a fun car.
