I'm ashamed to ask...Vette vs. Mustang
Ok, I go to school with this guy who is pretty annoying and probably believes that God will come back to earth in a Ford.
Anyway, he's got a 98 (or maybe a 97, the last year for the old body style Mustangs) Mustang GT 5 speed with an exhaust, cold air intake (which said on the box it could make 25+hp, so it gave his car 30hp, you know the type), maybe a few bolt ons here and there (nothing serious), 3.73 gears, and some bald *** Nitto 555R's.
He would bet his life that he can outrun a stock Corvette (non Z06) in the quarter mile. I said there was no way he could outrun the slowest Corvette made (I would guess a convertible with an automatic).
Just shoot me straight.
And if that's not enough, he swears that his Dad, whose 01 GT has a programmer, exhaust, cold air intake, some other stuff, and a 150 shot of NOS (it's an automatic) can "play" with a Z06 WITHOUT having to use the NOS. Yeah...I'm sure the guy driving the Z06 was laughing his *** off at this guy in the GT thinking he was winning.
The last part was just for fun, but really, GT vs. stock Vette? Give me some ammunition to throw at him tomorrow.

A 97 Gt runs low 15's/ high 14's stock in the 1/4 mile..................
Gears do a lot for that car, but his car is still a mid 14 second car, which makes the old convertible auto LT1 C4 vettes faster than him....
And that GT owner with the "NOS" is a living joke. If he truly belives his car is trapping at 118 mph then he really needs to be educated. The 150 shot wouldn't even get him enought to take a stock Z06 IMHO.
Stock GT's run low 14's and trap at like 96 mph. Stock C5 vettes run high 12's, low 13's and trap at like 108.

Mustang GT? GT 40 thats diffrent, lol. A Mustang GT should worry about keeping up with a Camaro or Firebird, rather then the Corvette. Someone should show his dad what a Z06 does to a GT with a 150 shot. As for him? Ask him to show you timeslips or something, then go to a local track and watch him against a Corvette. Thats at least what I would do.

That kid is stupid, my rcsb siverado 5.3 put down 255rwhp and I outran a 97-96ish black GT from school the other day. Those things are slow, I started pulling on him from around 30 and held a good length and a half on him until 70, that was when he shut it down. That kid is full of it, I know for a fact that Ls1 camaros and Firebirds would smoke him let alone a Z06

What kind of father races with his kid in the car anyway?

Thing is, he's not like some 16 year old. Try 20...and he KNOWS that his GT is faster than almost anything.
See if you can follow this:
He tells me how is Dad "played" with a Z06 on Interstate.
He then tells me how he can almost outrun his Dad's car.
So I say, "Basically you're telling me that you can outrun a Z06?" He said, "Well, I guess".
My other friend has an 89 5.0, with an early 90's model 5.0 engine swapped in. He knows his car isn't all that fast, but doesn't lie about it.
He lost to the 97 GT by a carlength.
So basically, a stock 5.0 (with 2.73 gears) is about as fast as a brand new $50,000 LS6 Z06 Corvette.
Yeah...um...that sounds right.

what a ******* idiot, he won a stock 5.0 by only 1 car and he is a full bolt on GT i guess if that Gt can **** around with ZO6s then i guess that means that the stock 5.0 can hang with a ZO6s too. what a ******* joke

2002-2004 Z06 corvettes are capable of running low 12's stock. A 97 mustang GT is capable of running low 15's or high 14's stock. With just a couple bolt ons or even NOS. Not possible!! God forgive that the Z06 is modified. WOW 11's!!

On another note...
My buddy has a 96 GT. He did the 99+ head swap, has aftermarket cams, tune, full bolt ons, 3.73's, etc. His best was 14.0 @ 104. Granted, he'd never been to the track before, but that's still pretty weak. I doubt another GT 96-98 with way less mods would come close. 98's got a MINOR bump in hp, but nothing that's going to make much difference.
