i should have known better than to try an argument of logic on this board.......but i guess just restating the first questioned statement(i.e. 10.8 is slow) is all i'm gonna get in rebuttal.........maybe if i say "i have a million dollars" 10 times it'll suddenly show up in my living room.....we are talking street driven race cars....yes, there are some running 9s, 8s, whatever.......chances are you are gonna run into a lot more ten second cars, and even more running slower than that......does that make them slower than the aforementioned cars? yes
does that make them slow? no......
did randy moss running a 40 yard dash in college make mike vick slow when he only ran a 4.3? nope.....

 

I would say it's all relative. Like you said, there are lots of cars running 10's and 11's on the street. 15 years ago, a car running 10's or 11's on the street would be insane. Now, its common...

Why do you care so much...if you think the logic here sucks...noone is stopping you from clicking that little x in the corner. As what is already stated...10.80's are real quick for an import...for a domestic car thats just another 10 sec f-bod....however if an f-bod said hey I'm running 9.80s....well even though thats not the fastest it would be considered fast. My car is a turtle compared to that civic....but hey I never said my car was fast either....lol

 

A chemistry teacher of mine once told me that some guy stole something like that and strapped it on the top of his volvo (he worked at a military base).

He turned it on and took off the ground at hit speeds at well over 250 mph. Too bad he couldn't tell anyone about it since he hit a mountain and vaperized.

But I believe thats fast, its not like he was talking **** to any F-body. I'm sure if he keep up his bet for $500 bucks, someone will get it from him quick. Where are you at? I'm positive there is some Supra, or Camaro, or old musclecar that will put enough cars on that Civic in a race to construct a interstate high way.

It's a fast Honda though. To bad you couldn't take him down that night would be cool to run a fast Honda, well it would certainly be different

 

when i live out in socal i had to pick some stuff up for work all the time in garden grove, and they had a bunch a tuner shops and whatnot back on this street....they were alway loading and unloading a civic from this semi with big ol' slicks on the front and basically casters on the back........it looked more like a blown bowling ball......i'm sure it was crazy to drive.......

 

here is why i think 10.8's are not that fast..


for one, i build cars that travel the quarter in that speed easily...

right now in the shop we have 6 cars that will run mid nines

out of the 6 4 are driven on the road almost daily... IF NOT DAILY

in houston bottom 11's and high 10's are seen in street cars all the time... it is pretty much the average..


and finally look at the competition and the sheer volume of the fast cars...

you can only do one thing and that is be faster then the comp... and that gets harder to do everyday with it only improving here!

 

jesus stop beatin a dead horse. most civics run 15's+ is the 1/4, does that make a 14 second civic fast? no. speed is relative. someone flying over a city at 500mph looks down at cars like there parked in the middle of the road, does that mean traffic is moving slowly? someone with a 6 second car isnt gonna be impressed with a 10 second car, someone with a 10 second car isnt gonna be impressed by a 13 second car etc. its relative, get over it.

ps- you argument is flawed, either way i dont care, but comparing how fast 1 person is to the rest of the world is stupid. most people who drive around in full drag set up, including slicks are running a helluva lot faster than 10.8 this a retarded argument, please stop trolling.

i guess i look at it like this: i drive my pos 98z28 hard every day(i say pos affectionately) and it doesn't run tens, but when i hit the pedal it will blow away any car i'm next to 99 percent of the time.....i know now i'm gonna get all the "pull up next to me ********" replies, but seriously not a lot of 10 second cars get driven a whole heck of a lot.......next time you go out at lunch, look to your left and look to your right......even if you're in a stock ls1 chances are neither of the cars next to you is gonna be close.......the sheer volume of fast cars you talk about is dwarfed by the sheer volume of cars in general........hell yeah 8 seconds is quicker than 10, that doesn't make ten slow, it just makes 8 really f-ing fast.......

 

argument is flawed how? dude running a 4.1 is wearing shoes just like dude running 4.3, just like dude running 8s is on the street on slicks just like dude running 10s........2 tenths is a lot in a 40yard dash, just like 2 seconds is a lot in the 1/4 mile.....I may be retarded, but that's neither here nor there
