refer to the post above yours. if you took the whole daily driven drag cars in the us (save ricers) that are decked out with drag racing slicks and skinnies (that are functional) i promise the average will be well, well above 10.8's. the fact of the matter is that we're not talking about "compared to the minivan i was next to this mourning at the merge..." we're talking about fully decked out drag racing cars that are driven on the street.

i agree that there are few of those compared to how many cars are on the roads today, but your comparing apples to oranges, any economy, point a-b car to a purpose built drag car.

i know it's late, but are you doing alright? daily driven drag cars on slicks and skinnies? i'm sure they do well in the rain.......and on the freeway for that matter.........if you take all of them, subtract 1, and you'll have a negative number.....

Does everyone have a problem relating to the context of what was posted??? For ***** sake...

"10.8s is fast in the world of rice" is a legit statement.
10.8s is fast... yes..we all agree...the context of the statement is (stay with me please... the climax is worth waiting for...really...I promise)

"In the real race world 10.8s is not fast..its old news. The real hardcore race guys are in the single digits on the verge of breaking new records daily. In the 'RICER' world (if your lost by this point look up the term ricer) 10.8s is a very impressive machine... and the number of people seeing single digits (street legal) are very very small. In true ricer fashion most cars dont see 14s, they dream of seeing those times....actually run 16s and claim to run 9s."

This isnt a domestic vs import argument...

does that make them slow? no......
did randy moss running a 40 yard dash in college make mike vick slow when he only ran a 4.3? nope.....

i'm sorry, i'm speaking a totally different language then everyone else, i still think 14 seconds is fast.....i think 12 seconds is fast......i think 10 seconds is fast........faster than eight seconds? no.......but it'll put your but back in the seat, and i'm guessing there is a reason you need a roll bar once you dip into 11s.......this is going nowhere fast...haha, get it? done

Apparently you are speaking a different language...I ran 14.1 stock and I thought that was slow then..and I definately do now. After years at the drag strip my perception of fast now lies in the single digit arena.

First of all this was not a ricer, he has a very clean orange hatch, no wing no abnormal body kits and was a cool guy. He said he ran 10.80s at the track. Im sure there are people out he were i live that will bet him but not me, my friends or anyone i know. We are in the high 12's for the most part, which is no were near the 10 sec range.i would have might as well handed him the money if i would have raced him. Like i said i have seen him punk an 11 sec 03 cobra b4

like i said... i grew up around fast STREET cars... we have NUMEROUS Lingenfelter TT 427 cars, Z07 packages, Homebuilt street cars... Big blocks on Dope, custom turbo applications...

WE HAVE THE LARGEST percentage OF 1000 rwhp SUPRAS, and home of the FASTEST VIPERS..

in houston we have HPE, MTI, ICON, G-FORCE, S.A.M., RSI, TNT, Hennesey, and many OTHER places...

fast cars are on the street here everyday, and are functional and DAILY driven....

our street car action is very fast compared to any other state... all we need now is for some of the northern boys like harlan and Dan and Derty to make a trip down in their cars

that is the fastback... motor is coming together.. gapped the rings.. starting all the block machining soon. I need to have my converter stalled up to about 3200 rpms for the dope though.

the stock 04 is going to stay that way...

BUT, my brother is purchasing a little hairdryer and what not for that car

dont worry, there will be PLENTY of cars you can race too... just have to watch out for even the mustangs down here.. remember Strictly Performance and Houston Performance are down here... Strictly is home of the Fastest 03/04 cobras in the nation

im sure my stang on Nitrous will hold its own very well... just going to see how it acts. Not sure how my C4 will like it, but only time will tell. I still have a little bit of change i have to put back into the car

dude, that's cool, but still doesn't have anything to do with what i said.........as a matter of fact, when you hop in your "slow" car, you aren't gonna be thinking "daggum, this sure is slow" the first time you hit the gas,are you? i'm talking about what it feels like, not what it looks like when you see another cars taillights.......as far as performance shops and fast cars being everywhere, the three guys you listed that you want to visit are all from up here, and i could walk to as many speed shops as you just listed......i'm sure none of them can figure out the lure of a slow 11 second package another customer just bought......

i know they are all from up there... they are all good guys and members of the site... with very quick cars... being derty;s and Harlan's car are fast...

but i am sorry that my opinion/feeling of a fast car is different from yours..

i get in a stock ls1 to drive... and all i can think about is how slow it is...

im sorry i am not thinking like you.. and also after i drive my car on the dope, i have a feeling that i am already going to pill it up... 150 shot, then 200, then 250 then etc...

Wow, this thread blew up... NO need... Some people think 10.8's are fast, some dont. To me, high 16's is on the verge of breaking the sound barrier... Cant we all just get along? Oh wait, I forgot we were in the street racing and kills section... Carry on...
