Somerset KY Cruise In / Am I barking up the wrong tree? WS6 vs Viper
So I went to this cruise in at Somerset Kentucky a few weeks ago and the place was crawling with F-bodys, vettes, including at least one C6, and a half dozen or more Vipers. The vipers all looked like the same body style and I paced a guy in a blue '97 model. I think he was gonna run me but there was a cop in the far left lane (three lanes wide) Anyway on up the road he was in front of me and got on it, not sure if it was ***** to the walls or not, I hammered down too and started catching real quick. I got up on him pretty good and then let out to let him know I had a little something for him. Wound up getting seperated from him and didn't get a "real" run. I'm heading back there on the 23rd of this month for the last cruise in of the year. Anybody know how I'd fair against a stock 97? I figured I would beat one, but I figured I'd find out a little more on there specs? Anybody else gonna be there, it'd be cool to hang with some LS1 guys.

my cousins BONESTOCK 97GTS ran an 11.87@119 at Atco. With a 250 shot and bolt-ons he ran 9.78 @139.
If you can run him from a dig, you "might" have a chance, as long as you have great suspension and some slicks. Otherwise, the Viper's IRS and HUGE 335's hook just as good, and if he gets any bit of traction, he should walk you (as evident of the trap's these things pull).

a 94/any first gen RT/10 or the 96/sub 96 vipers, which are the gen. 1 vipers.
They all "should" trap higher on you, I say the best viper to race is the one with the worst driver.

I guess I'll take my chances and see if any of them will "bite" Besides, I would rather have a race that I "might" or "should" lose, than a race I "know" I'm gonna win, unless it's to shut up some shittalker or something. I like a challenge, that's what it's all about. It's street racing anyhow, and anything can happen. Maybe I'll surprise one and if they don't hear it idling they'll think it's stock with exhaust If I lose, oh well, I'm supposed to, thanks for everyones input.

Good for you and wanting to a run a Viper and not trash talking it. So many people trash talk the Viper, and there is no reason too. Good luck taking down Dodge's snake!
I would kill for a Viper. But I would also like to get a kill on a Viper with my SS.

I am in Iraq right now, and wont be home until around Arpil. But wont be home for but a few day (Roughly 10) before I come back here.
But other than that....Nothing but Rice in Madisonville, once in a while I see a stang, but they are kids, in High school...They just know how to spin the tires....and think Fast and the Furious the epitomy of street racing.
Beside nowhere to run in that town either.....
Anyway, I got to go...Talk at ya all later!
