Default Cobra vs WS6

Hey guys! Got another race w00t!
I was coming home from dropping my GF off after watching The Grudge and I decided to take back a blockbuster movie because I had forgotten to all week. Well I pull in blockbuster and when I drop the movie in the slot and hop back in my car I see a 99-01 Cobra with numbers on the window and slicks/skinnies across the street at the gas station putting air in the rears. I assume he just got back from the track. Well I pretend to be messing with something inside my car when im really waiting on him to pull out Then he finally does and I pull out behind him and we both get on 412 West. He goes really slow up the on ramp and I noticed he has a custom tag that says "STLHRSE" HRSE = Horse but wtf is STL? And he has some pillar gauges, so I hoped he had nitrous or Stupidcharger or something cool. Because hes down like 100rwhp if he doesn't So I pull up and grab 2nd, 3 honks and we're off. I pull him to atleast my rear bumper by the end of 2nd and then click 3rd and hes in my rear view so 3-4 cars back I guess. Then I click 4th and put some football fields on him, I hope he let off. Then I slow down and let some cars pass and he pulls up again, this time from like 30-40mph in 2nd. 3 honks and we're off. Same deal 2nd I instantly pull him past my rear bumper. 3rd I put 2-3 more cars on him and then 4th he falls completely out of sight almost. I take the next exit to turn around and while I'm going across the bridge I notice he takes the exit too. I wish I would have pulled into the gas station and asked him what he had but it was like 2am and I was hella tired. He was probably stock or something anyway. It was fun. Thats 2 cobras in 1 week. I just gotta find an 03 now

Good kill.

The 99-02 Cobras aren't that bad stock. I had a friend of mine go 13.6 with just exhaust and an air filter. They aren't that hard to beat, it's just those pesky '03s that're a pain. Haven't beat one yet. And we have quite a few around here.

I would think that STL would be "steel", and thus you have "Steel Horse", though I suppose it could be "Stealth Horse" too.

jet_black...there was no Cobra in 2000 or 2002 (excepting the ultra-rare 2000 Cobra R).

Either way, nice kill. Always good to see your opponent in the rear view mirror.

i raced what looked like a 02 WS6(not that i know the difference between the years ) his car was loud, looked like no muffler and some other exhaust im assuming, on the highway went from about 60mph up to about 100mph, had about 1.5 cars or so. Then i let him in front of me, then he hits it to try and ditch me, i drop back into 3rd wind it out to 103mph, go into 4th and start flashing my highbeams switch lanes and pass him. what i dont get, is the passenger is looking at me like they just won? anyway, gave the driver the thubs up and took the next exit.

Don't hate I've been using that since way before I posted on ls1, back I used to play video games online in like 4th grade haha! Old habits die hard.
Just out of curiosity did you ever dyno your car when it was stock? I dyno'd my 03 10th Anniv Cobra with a K&N drop-in and a cat back and removed silencer and got 400rwhp exactly. But the silencer alone was worth like 11rwhp. I think stock I'd have only been around 360s. I've driven a 400rwhp LS1 F-Body and my 03 cobra felt like a dog in comparison. Your thoughts?

I agree, the grudge left me confused more than creeped out. Mostly because of the weird noises the girl made and the boy/cat thing.

I did dyno mine bone stock. To be quite honest, I don't remember what it made exactly. It was in the 380's. High 380's I believe. I've made well over 100 dyno pulls so it's tough to recall. I do know that it made 396rwhp with just a drop in K&N and silencer removed. It made 434rwhp with a 2.93 pulley, a drop in K&N, and !silencer.

A 400rwhp LS1 is going to pull like a raped ape over a 400rwhp '03 Cobra. Weight is a factor as is the IRS. The bottom line is that it takes more power to pull a Cobra down the track then it does an fbody. It's strange really. A stock Cobra making 390rwhp is good for 12.8's generally speaking with a good driver. That same driver can pilot a 390rwhp LS1 to very low 12's. Now, add 60rwhp to the Cobra and you're running low to mid 11's. It doesn't make any sense to me.

It's because the LS1's put on some good rubber, and launch a lot harder. Look at 60's. Both cars are still trapping equal with equal rwhp and weight, it's just all in the 60's. I have seen a couple of cobras that had just exhuast and intake (no pulley) and were running low 12's at around 114 (they had et streets). I've also seen (most of the ones that I see) 03/4 cobra's running at the track, trapping HIGH 1-teens, and running low 12's (they have crappy drag radials or their stock rubber, sometimes though, they STILL have et strets). It's simply because they can't launch and can't get a good 60'. Maybe it has something to do with their IRS, I don't know??? I've also driven a couple of 03 cobra's and they honestly didn't feel that fast. However, when I was in the passenger seat, they start feeling a little faster .

I don't get it either. Even my worst 60s are 1.8s now. Usually low 1.7s high 1.6s. Which is the whole scheme of things really isnt that good. Most cars that run into the 10's 60 in the 1.5s or better. I guess the bottom line is, most people dont know how to drive...lol

Pretty much. My 60's are usually high 1.6x's on Nittos. I highly doubt I'll see anything better than that on a bone stock IRS on DR's.

I think its because of the huge difference in the torque curve from pulleying down the supercharger. On mine the peaks were 20-30rwhp more but the midrange and torque were insanely effected with a lightning pulley. On a stock cobra the torque is a plateau and on a pullied cobra the torque has alot more shape to it.

Good point. The area under the curve plays a major role I'm sure. Add nitrous to that equation and My torque is WAY up there on the 100shot.

Yeah I can imagine. JeffT made 770rwtq on a ~250shot. Stock bottom end. He made right around 400rwtq off the spray, if I remember right. Thats a 370rwtq gain!
