Default Run in with 05 Stang GT

Well I was crusin down the street and looked in my rearview mirror and there it was a Black 2005 Mustang GT. We revved at each other for a little bit, but ended up running each other 2 times. The first time he got a good jump and I was catching up, but had to stop, because of a truck in front of me was turning. The 2nd time we got it we started pretty even, but I put 2-3 cars on him until about 80 or so. Overall it was a nice car and a good race and I think they will be good for consistent high 13's stock, with a few in the mid 13's.

His car was a 5-speed 2005 GT (stock)
Mine is a Auto 2002 GT (all bolt-ons and no internal work)

hehe, old vs new...new "300hp" GT loses. Classic
Congrats: You both run low 14's, so you must be a much better driver.

Nice runs! The only time I saw one I was in a company car, Jeep Liberty. Now there's a race! Besides it had mfr plates on it so even if i was in my ride I doubt anything would've happened. Oh well, next Spring

I have driven one and they are nice cars, magazines rave about 'em but they just don't pull like an LS1. I don't see anyone here having a problem beating one. Remember this is the first GT to have 300hp, The general has had em' since '98.

I really don't run low 14's...and I have tons of talent feathering the gas pedal in my auto.

Nice run, I saw a black 05 GT for the first time yesterday parked. It looks better in person. It just needs to be lowered, new wheels and fat tires.

.
I'm still amazed they did all that work changing the body style and actually making them look good ..... but they couldn't take the time to make it faster?

I was watching a show on the discovery channel (I think) about the production of the 05 stang, and they were talking about it like it was going to be the king of the racing circuit right out of the box. All about how the project leader was shooting for a race car that he could sell to the consumer blablablabla. Even in the testing they had the window net up and they were running it like a race car. I actually had some high hopes for it after seeing that.

I haven't heard much about them after that, but if it isn't a low 13 second or better car, I will be significantly dissappointed at Ferd once again.

They seem to dyno real nice, just gotta get someone good in the driver seat. I seen a quite a bit of them over 280rwhp ( on a dyno jet) They are a little lighter then an F-Body and Mach, so there is no reason it shouldn't run strong. Time will only tell, they're to new to find out most are still not broken in yet.

Actually with a curb weight of 3450 (MM&FF yes I read it and yes I love it ) they are about the same as a 4th gen F-body. From the times and trap speeds I have saw (both in person and in magazines) they are close to the 93-97 F-bodies and the 99-04 GTs. They seem to put more power down on the dyno, but maybe their added weight (compared to the SN95 Mustang) is slowing them down.

That pretty sad, considering they are suppose to be alot more powerful than the 99-04 GTs. I guess not.

1) Good kill! What are your mods?
2) The highest I've seen is a high 270 dyno, and most are like 260 or less, NOT 280 wtf?
3) They're heavier not lighter.

My buddy Brian raced one in his Evo the other night (fair bit of mods, runs 12.5 @ 107) and put a pretty good hurting on it. He said he figured it was a 13 sec car, but not by much. As well, a few people ive talked who've seen some people trying to fab up blower kits say they DO NOT like the boost. A mustang that dont take boost, whats the world coming to? Could just be a bunch of crap, but we'll know for sure soon enough.
