I will see if I can find the article. I thought it said it was plastic. There was steps in taking the center console apart, etc to get to the stick itself. Below that it tells you how to remove it. That was it will down shift to first etc. I think I ready it on fbody.org site. I will see if I can find it.

LMAO.. my car would just take off (when you manually put the car in first it holds it near redline in the appropraite gear) and he would fall back a few feet.. then I could hear him getting louder (approaching powerband) and by the time we were going ~70mph or so he would start to gain back what he lost (obviously moments later around 80mph he would pull past) ...poor bastage got embarassed a couple times..lol
well, it's an issue with that platic lever. Mine isn't exactly stock, even from the 35 it's quicker than the g6. Nice car by the way.

Whoever use to own the car originally use to race it. Someone had headers on the car but removed them. When you have 88k when I bought it, it has tire wear on the wheel wheels and it has new head gaskets on the headers. With that milage, no way they would be new. The car has a 2 series carrier but they replaced the 2.73s with 3.08s. (the biggest 2 series gear available.)

I know becuase of looking at gear/speed charts and comparing between both gears.

But it also depends on the z you are racing, some of them are fast stock and some are not. I got lucky I think. It ran a 13.65 with the 2.73s and a flowmaster muffler. But than again, it maybe the 3.08s like I was saying before. I know the G6 won't run that.

Anyway, if your buddy removes that plastic, the car will drop to first instead of riding out 2nd at low rpms. All of the autos should remove it, it's a good fix. Your race with him from 30 will be different.

I hope you didn't overlook my old car in the sig. Im well aware its a brick with 4 wheels. I just enjoy the fact that I can **** my friend off If he had 3:23s (as my Z did stock) I wouldn't stand a chance... my old Z would leave this thing from any mph within a split second. Please don't mistake me for one of the 16 year old honda owners.

I needed something that day (spun a bearing and I knew the car wouldn't last much longer).. we only have dealership in town... so thats where I went. Unfortunately I didn't find anything I really liked... and well.. I guess thats why I went with the G6.. Im going to skip over Fbodys after this (unless the new camaro is annouced officially) and get a 02/03 Z06 since I have seen a few in the mid to high 20s recently. I miss my car terribly..but I don't miss turning wrenches every weekend just to keep it running. Just too a breather I guess. If I could have bought an 05 Z28 with full warranty and no miles.. I definately would have. Sign of the times I guess.
