Default LT-1 vs. LS-1

Driving home from work the other night in my 95 z-28, i was turning right onto a long two lane street but before i could turn, i see an ls-1 crossing the intersection going in the same direction i am about to turn. He was moving at a pretty good clip so i speed up and past the guy to see if he wants to play. i slow a little and he comes up door to door with me i can see that he has his girlfriend in the car with him and i can tell this guy though his car was big ****. So we get even going about 30 mph i drop it into 2nd and we both went, i instantly pulled two cars on him and when we got to the stop light he looked like i just had sex with his sister in front of him. He said he had never got smoked by an Lt-1 like that before and i told him that it was his lucky day. HE asked me what i had done and i have headers, catback, and a 4.10 gear. He said he had a lid and a flowmaster muffler. i am an m6 and he was auto. But on the other hand, ive been walked before by my friends 02 z with just a lid and a cat back so i was suprised that i pulled him so hard.

Great kill brother. Keep the LT1 name alive . Sounds an 1/8 mile run right? Probably would have been a lot closer in the 1/4.

no they guy was like there was no way he would have caught me. Actually another time i ran a bone stock 02 LS-1 from a dig and he got me out of the hole by two cars(damn 4.10s) but i started to reel him in after 90mph.

30mph isn't really a good downshift speed for an LS1, but good kill anyway.

yea at 30 i have to pull down into first gear manually in my auto to make sure she downshifts or suffer losing to my hemi truck from a 30 roll, or atleast and till i come back around lol... 30 sucks for a auto no question.. and i have two buddy's with 4.10 lt'1, one auto on 6sp, there best bet is from a dig to about 60 if they want it close, and after 90 i really start to get after them it seems.. this definetly proves that all cars have got to be different though and almost every street race can not be duplicated.. as in there are so many deciding factors everytime.. hell ive run cars and only beat them by a car and then a guy that is way slower then me, has run that same car and beat him by 2... im in no way calling bs on ur story, just proving a theory to myself that anything can happen on the street.. good kills!

no his girl was pretty small but its alright, im well acustom to the might of a lightly modded ls-1 like i say with just a lid and cat back my friend straight schooled me in his 02 z-28 but like my sig says i have no problem being second to the ls-1 just not this time though.

Not in my car....35 is the sweet spot from a roll. It's right where I downshift into the top of 1st. I've actually chirped my tires and gone sideways a little hitting it at 35...not good for my tranny most likely, but probably the most potent speed for racing from a roll.

The manual guys just don't understand My dead zones were a little higher than that... but then I just got a manual valvebody, shift kit, stall, etc and just like that..*poof* no more dead zone...

my lt1 stinks at 35, probably around 28-30ish for it to drop down to first. I have that stupid auto sometimes. They say you can remove the plastic lever that holds it into gear. From what I have read, gm did that for the sound level to meet federal guidlines but it can be removed. Damn, sometimes GM are morons.

Let me know how you like the new gears. I'm thinking of switching mine soon.

Muhaha.. you poor 2:73 guys..I raced my buddys stock T/A (2:73s) and he had one hell of a time from ~30mph rolls keeping up with my 05 G6 (weak sauce car).. LMAO.. my car would just take off (when you manually put the car in first it holds it near redline in the appropraite gear) and he would fall back a few feet.. then I could hear him getting louder (approaching powerband) and by the time we were going ~70mph or so he would start to gain back what he lost (obviously moments later around 80mph he would pull past) ...poor bastage got embarassed a couple times..lol

Thats the thing i really love about having 4.10 gears is that the car pulls strong at any speed under 90mph. Droping it into first on a slow roll is brutal. I love the LT-1s torque.
