Ok this one was totally unexpected. Everyone gets out of work today at the same time since we were all done. I'm in the car warming it up (bout 2 min), when the supervisor comes up to me in his car (galant ) and gives me a thumbs down with the Jeep 5.9 next to him. They take off in the parking lot and I'm following behind trying to go WOT but keep fishing *damn salt!!*

Once the entryway for the highway comes, too much traffic. Supervisor stays on this highway but me and the 5.9 are getting off to get into the next highway. He has a car in front of him and try to gas it and go into the middle lane (trying to leave me so soon??!!) I floor it and go into the left lane and leave him like he hit reverse. Hit about 80 there. Wait for him to come up again (he's taking his time) He gets along side and we go and he's gone again *pretty headlights* Hit 110 there.

On the way going to 110, pass a few cars and one wants to play too. I'm in the left lane and this guy comes up on my *** and gets along side- drives by at bout 100 and its an intrepid Almost thought it was a cop for a sec there He gets into the left lane in front of me and I go into the middle and blow by him and get into the left lane Then go WOT and leave his *** looking.

5.9 is taking his time, I hit the brakes twice to show that I'm slowing up for him. I move over into the middle lane and he goes into traffic I stay behind and wait for an opening. He gets into the left lane and there is an opening before the next car. He tries to go again and I blow by him, signal to the left and leave his *** once again.

We are getting off and I'm just crusing now and he pulls along side, I put up my hand saying what happened. Then he drives off into traffic again. I've made my point. Let's see what he's going to say tomorrow.
I know that this has been a long time coming but today was one of the actual warm days here and my camera was in my coat instead of my leather

He was trying to talk crap today but I caught him. He said "Yo when I pulled up next to you I was gone" I just said, how can you pull up next to me unless you was behind me to begin with. He said he took the truck up to 110. I said oh no wonder I saw your headlights when I was doing 120.

When the SUV owner talks smack all day at work, antagonizing, and actually BELIEVING he can take down an LS1 f-body... it's a well deserved kill.

Roarin8, I'm glad this finally happened.

 

There's more than a handful of trucks and SUVs on the boards here in the deep 13s. Also more than a handful that are alot faster than that. Those jeeps start out in the 15s if I remember correctly. Which isn't a bad starting point. If the Jeep instigates with him good job for mopping it up. The story did sound a little wreckless though.

 

 

NIce kill, i have a friend that has a 5.9, he went like 8.7-8.8 at 76-77 mph in the 1/8 with LTs, cat-back, filter, and a chip. For a SUV it can move.

 

Good kill. I love smoking mustang GTs and unsuspecting f-body owners when they are next to my 5.9 at a light....probably the most enjoyable SUV I've had. But most of the advantage goes away when you are moving and not going from a dead stop though. Thinking about tossing on a supercharger to keep up on the higher end.

But in all honesty I dont know what that 5.9 driver was thinking, my T/A would smoke my Jeep all day long.....blowing by it at 50mph (nasty outta the hole acceleration on the street with the jeep). But from a roll....it would just get uuugly for the jeep. Its pretty much a flying brick at those speeds.

nope, that would be the new 4.7s or the new one with the high output 4.7.

none of the 5.9s stock were fast, as a matter of fact, they were slugs, hehe.

the new hemi version is the fastest out of all of them. It's 325hp.

the 4.7 was 230hp and the HO version is 265.

 

The 5.9 Grand Cherokee's aren't exactly "slugs" stock, mine went a 14.91 @ 90.62 bone stock, no weight reduction. The new Hemi's are only said to run 15.0-15.2's on average. They should be quite a bit faster than mine with an 80HP advantage, but the 05 GC's are a few hundred lbs heavier. The regular 4.7 with 235HP doesn't stand a chance against a stock 5.9 through the 1/4. The HO version is about even with a 5.9 most of the time.

lol, you have one of the fastest stock 5.9s I've seen so far. The average is 15.4. I see allot of 4.7ho's running 15.0 flats, 15.2s. I seen a couple 5.9s running 15.0 flat also. Not many breaking that 14 second runs. THe HO 4.7 was debuted as the quickest cherokee yet, of course besides the hemi. Oh well.

The hemi's are going to be running 14.8s, maybe slightly faster. But take in mind, the cherokee is getting redesigned slightly. It's suppose to be slightly larger and heavier of course, just as you have pointed out. So we shall see I guess. I think here in maryland, it's going to run low/mid 14s but it's suppose to be 4000 pounds versus the old 3500 pound design.

 

Yeah, he's pretty reckless as a driver. The moment I see traffic coming up, I get out of it. No need to put someone else's life in danger, it's just not worth it. I wanted to put this guy in his place real bad since my other co-workers were starting to believe that he could take me out. I had shown him one of the postings before and he just turned away thinking that his 5.9 could take out a 5.7 just because it's a slightlier bigger motor. I just came back from Japan which is why I didn't reply to some of you guys. Saw a yellow camaro out there, lt1 body style but I believe it was a 6. Took some pics of a Skyline GTR G35, a red Fiarri (sp) and an Aston Martin. I'll post up those pics when I extract them from my laptop. Thanks again guys for humoring this funny race.

LS1 Tech rules

 

You sir, couldn't tell a jeep from your own *******. Go to www.jeepsunlimited.com and start researching your mopars. A stock 5.9L will beat the 265hp HO by about a 'jeep length'. In fact there was just a post about that recently. Some guy admitted he got smoked by a 5.9 in his HO. The torque on the 5.9 blows the 4.7 outta the water. On the top end is where the 4.7 shines.

The new WK (New style Hemi Grand Cherokee), weighs almost 5000lbs w/ no gas in the tank.....4,900 and change...It does not quarter as fast as the 5.9 (4100lbs) This has been discussed over and over on the Jeep boards and the conclusion is....yes, the 5.9 is still the fastest jeep ever produced. Mine ran a 15.1 stock. It will dip into the 14.90's with just a K&N intake.
