I would strongly suggest you NOT run him for titles. Anything can happen in a race. Even if you have him powerwise, something could go wrong like a missed shift, loss of traction...and there you are losing your car! No matter who wins that could possibly ruin your relationship with your brother. Just run him for fun!

I own an 2002 M3 and have taken LS1s on more than one occasion, I don't recommending underestimating this Bimmer. Not long ago I gave a Camaro SS a Bavarian wake-up call. The E46 M3 has an 8,000 RPM redline and the S54 inline 6 has won International Engine of the Year for 4 straight years. I'm not here to toot the M3 horn, just to clear up some facts about the car. I'm an enthusiast of many kinds of cars including those with LS1s under the hood, but if you think an M3 is just another 3-series, you're going to be very surprised if the driver has any clue how to operate it to its potential.
Also, the newer M3s with the Sequential Manual Gearbox have a function called Launch Control, which is a computer controlled accleration from launch. It means even the dimmest moron can get to 60 in the mid 4s so long as they keep the steering wheel pointed straight.
And if you happen to see someone who has spent the money to import one with a little "CSL" emblem on the trunk.... well, you'll find out

I think most people say "let's run em for slips" just to try and prove they're confident of their car. How many people actually run em for titles when it comes down to it? I know I sure as Hell wouldn't, even if it was against my buddys slowass 87 Iroc Z that only runs mid 9's in the 1/8th cause you never know what could F@!k up and then what? Like others have said, run for x amount of $$$ or for fun. So just run em and let us know what happens? Good luck!

ya know.....You might want to check and see if your brother even actually HAS his title to his car first of all. Only way hes going to have the title is if he paid for the car CASH. If the car was financed, the bank has the title AND the lean on it. Try calling the bank and telling them they have to hand it over because your brother lost a race.
He probably knows this-hence the reason hes running his mouth. Tell him to stop talking out his *** and put cash on the race. simple as that.

Hey guys, I am a member over on E46Fanatics. This is our community handle. We are just here to partake in the fun.
Sounds like it would be a fairly good race. Just do it for fun though. No need to take your brother's car...(Or him take your's).
Now, the E46 M3 isn't just a straight line car. It was built around the GT platform. Althought the it is quick, it is no where near any of the "American Muscle" cars out there. I have a slightly modded M3 (Intake, pullies, exhaust, chip, mid pipes, and some weight reduction here and there) BUT, the M3 really shines in the corners...
If your brother was talking about a LeMans style track, you are toast. If it is a straight line...It should be somewhat close considering you two are slightly modded.
Good luck, get a video of possible. Just do it for fun though, no need to take his car from him...That is unless you wanna make a cool 60k.

Just because you saw an M3 do low/mid 14's at a certain track doesn't mean the car is only capable of doing those times. I even saw Corvettes running 14's before at the local track, but that didn't lead me to believe they were only capable of running 14's and not 12's or 13's.

Wow, and here I thought some ls1 guys were talking trash. Its so funny when M3 owners bring in getting laid by girls. I guess If I wanted to go pick up some 15 yr hold girls, I guess the M3 would be an ok choice. And when you race, isnt picking up some jail bait really what counts?
The twistie comment, so funny. This one takes the cake.
boooo american muscle cars.If we wanted power i wouldve bought a dodge viper

Man some of you guys are very misinformed I'm dissappointed.
M3's are easy 13 second cars, even the SMG should be a Mid 13 second car, with virtually no launching ability.
As a matter of fact, stock M3's have gone faster then any stock F-body I know of. Lee Rutter former mustang guy with 12.7x bone stock and also Evan Smith (I think Aug 02 issue of MM&FF) went 12.7x forgot the mph but I believe it was 109.
I've only ran one LS1 slightly modded, and I'm a previous LS1 owner.
Here are the results from the race.

I'd be weary about doing that race. If your brother is willing to put up a $60,000 car against a 98 WS6, he might have more than just intake/exhaust.
