You could say that about ALL brands of cars. We all have our share. Check out huggerorange's post in this section calling me jealous of his ls1

03 and 04 Cobra's are fast I raced one the other day on the highway and he put 2 to 3 cars on me. I Could never catch up. Gotta love that blower. On the other hand I have raced 99-01 cobras and have put 2-3 lengths on them. Not all Cobras beat LS1's.

True...I doubt anyone is dumb enough to actually believe that. The pre-'03 Cobras can't touch a LS1 stock for stock. Who cares though since none of us are stock.

KBPumped03,
Not trying to be an ***, but your sig is what confuses me the most about the supercharged Cobras. You have 500+ rwhp and all you can run is 11.3s? I only have 411 rwhp and I can run that! How heavy are those cars? They always dyno a ton of HP , but don't have the track times you would expect from it? If I had 500+ rwhp I would easily be in the 10s. Can someone explain to me this phenomenon with the Cobras?

Sure. They are heavy. 500rwhp is good for 10.90's @ 125-127mph on the stock IRS with a 1.60 60' or so. The good news for the Cobra guys is that is it extremely easy to hit 500rwhp.

That's what I was thinking as I read this. I think this happens a lot. I know it happened to me during my first race in my Cobra. It was my first 6 spd, and I wasn't sure what gear to be in at certain speeds. I raced a modded SS from 70mph in 4th gear (I thought dropping two whole gears would be plenty ).All I had was a filter and mufflers. He walked off on me of course until he botched the 3-4 shift. That's all it took for me to realize I was in the wrong gear. We raced again, but this time the results were reversed. As stated already, a kill is a kill, and it takes awhile to learn how to get optimum performance from your car. If he's a friend, line them up again at 50mph and have him start in 2nd, or run from 80 and have him start in 3rd. I'll bet you'll see a difference. Good kill regardless!

EDIT: Crap, I skimmed a few of the first pages, then skipped ahead to the reply without reading the last few. My bad, looks like the issue has already been settled. My bad.

Yea, arent stock 03/04 cobras over 3700lbs? Thats a big difference compared to a Z06 weighing about 600lbs less.

Not over, but close to. My 03 weighed 3865 with me and a 1/4 tank of gas, nothing else (so 3675).

I believe the verts are something like 3750+

And honestly stock V.S stock the cobra pulls the camaro in a very short distance (1 to 3 cars) and decreases in long distances . plzz understand and compare :the diff ratio, forceinduction , that means everything must go good for the cobra? but looks like not ,HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

Huh? My brain hurts now. I ran several LS1's before I modded mine and won every time. I'm sure I would've gotten my butt handed to me by a Z-06 but couldn't find any to play until after I modded. The one Z I've run against got spanked badly. However, I know of a WS6 that would flat kick my *** if we ever went so brands don't matter, only cars and drivers do.

i think dollar per dollar, a 03-04 cobra would be easier to get to 500rwhp.

In a zo6 its easier, granted, but realistically, you wouldnt have to open the motor to achieve does numbers in the cobra while you may need a new cam and heads package. Gotta love FI!!!!!

Edit: Doo!!! well, without using the salsa magica!!!

Exactly a 150 shot with an exhaust system will put an Ls1 into the 500rwhp range.... you dont really start to see the true benefits of the cobras forged engine, until the 600rwhp and higher range. The stock ls1 pistons are on borrowed time at those levels.....

Kinda like the Teflon coated pistons in the Cobra's, they suck! If ya run a 75 shot in a Cobra with Ported SC and 2.8 pulley ya get around 680 to the wheels. GL doing anything with it though. The Cobra's have an issue with the pistons where heat is concerned. Some of the guys have fried pistons when running for long periods up over 150.
