Hey, bolt-ons are bolt-ons. Let it be a Blower or N20. Plus, pistons don't make that big of a differance. (Just wanted something a little stronger.) But it's not like anybody's scared of a little 306ci Ford.

Well since we have some 5.0 knowlege in this thread....At the Autorama here 3 weeks ago I was talking to the owner of a performance shop that is located near me and they were showing a '03 stang with some spray, cai and cat-back, so I told them i'd have to come by there and run the stang in the spring for fun, well the owner pipes up and says he has a '91 5.0 that he would be happy to kill me in...not a big deal, so I ask what has been done he says ported heads upgrated fuel system and all the bolt ons with the stock cam, so he goes on to say it runs "somewhere in the 10's" ummm ok, with the stock cam and no spray.....is this possible??

Yup! He swore up and down that it had the stock cam and no spray. You had better bet i'm gonna be there in the spring to see it in person!! He was even so bold to say he has beat R1's with it....lol

Anything is possible, but not likely considering that the record for a stock cam last time I lloked was 11.50 @ about 2700 lbs.

As far as the times for the mods you listed initially and the times I posted, I ad almost the exact same set-up in 1998 when TFS released their "wedge" heads except I had a GT-40 intake and slightly more aggressive cam and went 12.20's on Michelins @ 112.9, so it is quite possible.........if the dude can drive.

On slicks, definitely!

BTW, who cares what a 5.0 runs stock......does anyone even know of one that is stock!?

No. I'm willing to bet he just has a well hidden nitrious setup. If I can afford a stall this spring (3500-3800 range) I'll run the '03 GT M5 they have with a 125 shot,CAI and cat-back....do I stand a chance from a dead stop?? Current times in sig.....

Slow stock by today's standards, to be sure. I don't recall any Camaro guys talking too much smack in the late 80's and early 90's when these cars were brand new though. Congrats, a stock LS1 is faster than a car that's almost 20 years old! (1987 was the same setup till 1993, basically). I give credit where credit is due. Today's (well, I guess I should talk past tense now) Camaros are fast, no doubt about it. But the 5.0 has earned it's place in history as well IMHO.

When most people say 5.0's, they mean the cars. For example," Man I ran this 5.0 Mustang(meaning Fox Body Mustang) this weekend in my 2000 Z28 Camaro and got my *** handed to me"!
I'm sorry man, I'm just pickin on ya. But yeah, I am aware that a 331 is not a 5.0.

Yeah, it's hard to beat a good Fox Body. They're cheap and it only takes a few things to make em' run good.

All I can say is the 5.0 boys were talking all the smack until 1993. Then us Camaro guys were labeled as punks and babies. Now the Camaro is gone and the supercharged 03 up Cobras are in full effect and Camaros are slow again? It's just funny to me since I've had both and ls1 guys get labeled dicks by MOST Mustang guys. I mean it isn't rocket science, 302 cubes vs 346 with superior factory head and intake design. Why couldn't GM and Ford get together and just agree to make same displacement engines? That has always been a question of mine. Yea, there were some rare production cars like the 95 Cobra R (351 right?) but I mean mass production cars. I'm so tire of hearing "you got smacked by a little ol 302 or 4.6". It's never the other way around. "well hell, you should have won, you have a 5.7 man".

In the spring I'm looking to buy a low 90's notchy. I got a nice aluminum block 4.6L SOHC to sit under the hood with a D1SC to boot. It will take some money to get it together but I plan on taking a couple of years building it.

I have ALOT of respect for you LS1 guys, I'm actually jealous. I'm selling my Mustang and trying to find me an LS1. But I do like the fact that my Stang is only 306ci and walks ALOT of cars out there. But I just like the LS1's better. If I invested the money into an LS1 as I did my 306, I would have a 10sec "streetable" car. And no, I don't think any of you LS1 guys are dicks. I would have to say ya'll are alot cooler than alot of the Mustang guys on a "DFW" Forum.

Even you are cool enough to admit that!! Hey, to each his own. We are all in a brotherhood of speed as I see it. I had a 93 Lx, 95 GT-S, 96 Vortech Cobra, 94 GT convert (wife's slow snail!!). The only way IMO to have a fox car is with a stroker/poker motor. I'm just an all motor kind of guy, except for that one blown Cobra I had. I also really like the white Mach 1's. Those DOHC engines are just so expensive to do anything to!!!
