Straight Coupes are getting harder and harder to find.

Today's (well, I guess I should talk past tense now) Camaros are fast, no doubt about it. But the 5.0 has earned it's place in history as well IMHO.
you are a 100% right! i do remember getting my *** kicked in my 1987 iroc-z by a 5.0

Oh god, what i started. a 5.0 vs LS1 war. I respect 5.0. A 20 years old motor and it still can run with today's big boys.

Decent, but can't stand the overdone Cobra R wheels and the hood. What year is it?

Driftpin, the only problem with nice 5.0's, especially coupes, is people get dumb money for them. You can buy a decent ls1 for almost the same money. Not trying to flame a 5.0, but get real. You gotta spend real money to get a 5.0 to hang.

What constitutes "real money" is relative. However, a non-cherry 87-93 5.0 Mustang can be had for $2000-$6000 (especially hatchbacks and GTs - coupes are starting to demand more $$$$'s). Mods are quite cheap, and getting one to go fast is not hard.

you dont have to spend dumb money to make those 5.0's fast that is not true! i spent dumb money in supercharger and other **** hell i feel i wasted money because i dont drive it like i did before. but i did look over on the corral.net alot of those guy's are running budget gt40p head's cam and intake and the time's they posted from high 11's to low to high 12's and 13's that's not bad for a 5.0!

uh.....riiiiiiight, i built my 88 GT Vert for $3500 (including buying the car) and its a high 12 second car on motor, low 11's on a 125 shot. Can you show me a LS1 Camaro/F-body you can buy for $3500 that runs low 11's?

Man, after reading only a coulpe threads i had to join. You guys seem like a real nice crowd(LS-1 tech website) and give the respect where it is needed. I am frequently on stangnet and dont see the same respect for F-bod owners like some of you guys are showin for us mustang guys. I love my fox, but really want a WS6 T/A, always loved the look of them since they went to the LS-1. I'll keep my fox as it is my first car and i have dumped a whole lot of time into it. -Jeff

Maybe 20 years from now you could get a LS1 Camaro/F-body for that money that runs 11's. It's all relative.

Sounds fairly ignorant to me considering I have had several stangs and can't count on one hand the "anything" I lost to with about 13-15K including the cost of one of the cleanest coupes in existance(when I had her).

P.S. Do some research before typing cause there are a lot of people on here that know better.

BTW, is "real" money to you about a grand, cause I have spent about that on a previous 5.slow and went 11.30's all day long on a T-5, some good tires and some even better driving!
