Man, these streets are gettin' mean (Future Races)
Hey everyone. The streets around my house are gettin pretty mean. From what I've heard, there's a 9-second Nova cruisin' the neighborhood, and my buddy just set up two races for me with some badass cars. The first is this '03 Cobra. The driver is the Eminem wannabe that keeps talkin' ****, and need so badly to put him in his place. However, his car ain't stock. He's got a ported blower, smaller blower pulley, chip, cold air intake, and full exhaust. He's claim 490 @ the wheels...shouldn't it be higher with those mods? Anyway, his car's still heavy as hell, with IRS, and he's on street tires, so I MIGHT have a chance if I finish my exhaust and get my cam. Hopefully I can show him that real small blocks don't need power adders. Now for the second car...it's an '04 Evo VIII. He just ordered forged internals, a bigger turbo, bigger intercooler, boost controller, and a few other parts I can't remember right now. He ran a 13.1 BONE STOCK, and he's hoping for low 12's. I should nail him with a cam, but I still have yet to get said cam. I'll keep you all posted, but if this keeps up, I might get a small dry shot just for a backup plan.

If he has all of those mods he should be up around 510-535 RWHP. I make right at 490 RWHP with just a 2.8 pulley, tune, CAI and catback. The '03 Cobra's need about a 40 RWHP advantage to run with an F-body and usually can't get better than a 1.5 60' with stickies.

I bet I spent more on my exhaust than you did for those few mods that got you those #'s. Damn, I need a blower!

9s aint a thing amongst those old novas. At least around here most older novas that race are sporting big blocks and alot of them are in the 9s or better. They're lightweights, especially when gutted, and have alot of room for engine. Our cars have alot better street manners though. At high altitude dont mess with a forced induction car if it has more horse than you. If I remember right though chicago's pretty low you might have a decent chance with that cobra.

i would get a 12 bolt at least if your gonna drop some dr'z.
Yeah, ive seen camd Z take out 03 cobras but its not always gonna be that way.... But very likely...
Also, the stock turbo on an EVO can handle up to 25-26psi effeciently. If he got a larger turbo its gonna have more lag but more more potential. With the forged internals and intercooler, i think both you and the cobra should watch out though..he can crank the boost way up.
either way, spend some insurance money and get your self a small shot.....kick down, hit fourth.....spray and hold on......they both have power adders, why cant you?

Are these races going to be filmed? I think you'll definetly need more to hang with that Cobra.

It's heavier, it has IRS, and for some reason, the power just doesn't seem to translate into quicker E.T.'s like it does with our cars. If I get the right cam I can probably hang with him, especially with my converter and good tuning, but a 100 shot can't hurt. Either way, I just want to shut this kid and his little estrogen-filled Mustang club up.
