I was going down us 29 a couple of weeks ago and i passed by a old box chevy in the right lane. It sounded like it had some flow masters on it. It keept pacing me and hanging around so i went from about 60 to 75. He speeds up to stay by me and he just kept anoying me. SO i let his *** gave it. I jump to third gear and lay it almost to the floor. I check the rear view and there is this box chevy about 7 car lengths and fading fast with a huge smoke screen behind it, It look like he was spraying for bugs. I just died laughing and went to over dirve which is 3 1/3 throttle and kept pulling very bad. I figured he had enough and i let off. Then comes the classic fly by, waaaaaaqqqqqqqaaaaaa.......... Just a funny story, i aint broud of it or any thing. I just dont under stand why you would try to race a damn big *** land boat against any thing.

 

If he sent the tires into a smoke screen at 70 I'd say you're lucky you let out when you did. When he flew past you was probably just him getting traction. Be careful messing with the "land boats" I've seen more than my fair share of those "old boxes" running 9s and better with trap speeds that will most likely make your top speed look like a joke.

I agree, I witnessed a 79 fairmont wagon pull the wheels and run a 10.24 at the track.......in St.Louis......where he drove the car from Texas.

Anyone know who I'm talking about? I think his name was John Dodson or John something. That was a true sleeper. 01 ls1, solid roller, and 175 dry shot with a powerglide and 3.55 gears in a brown fairmont wagon.

Just goes to show you shouldn't underestimate those land whales. Nice kill anyway.

I gotta go with them on this. If a car broke em loose enough at that speed to send up a smoke screen it would have some serious problems staying straight...

no man. It was oil smoke i am pretty sure. Remember dope boys think just by putting a 350 a stock 350 in the car will make it have 375 bhp.

The car was such a sleeper that even when the announcer said "Well it looks like we got a sleeper here. Had a few before over the past few years and you never know what they're gonna do".........I thought he was talking about the Impala in the other lane........I was wrong.
