The new GTO's....I don't know if I like them or not. It seems they move decently but I think the WS6 looks much better and the fact that the WS6 is 5 years older in these horsepower war times and right there with the GTO says something....

The TA hung on decent considering it has 80 less advertised HP in stock form. However, I wouldn't really consider that a "Modded" TA. I guess techinically it is. I would more consider it a bolt-on TA.

Hey M8d2run. Congrats on your new 05 GTO.
Where in Cali are you? I am in Folsom (Sacramento area). I will race your GTO if your in the area. I have a 2000 WS6 A4 with a 221/223 112 cam, mac headers (running though cats and a stock cat back), 2800 vig converter and a LS1 edit tune on near bald stock rear tires.

I hardly ever get the chance to race, so it would be cool to see what our cars would do for fun.

Ok, so he had the mods wrong... but what was wrong about the race?

Funny... I see two races (second doesn't count because of "debris") and neither had you ahead...

Guess you run into that chance when street racing on a two lane road even if it is "extremly open and low traffic".

289 out of 350CHP is only an 18% rivetrain loss

Yea, seriously. I drove an 05 and it spun worse than my Z28 due to the tires and IRS it had, and the tq.

Those LS2s get down man. No joke for a chunky goat of the showroom floor.

I don't consider anything modded unless it has performance modifications that violate the engine warranty: just about every bolt-on in the book won't do that eg. lid/filter/headers/exhaust etc.

I "consider" a modded car to be at least a cam . . . more like a Heads/Cam and bolt-ons or some form of forced induction.

I'd call his WS6 stock with a shifter (all cars come with an air filter )

Cool video

Something to keep in mind when watching that video. Stock curb weight of a GTO is about 3600 lbs. That's a lot if you didn't know and more than an F body. Stock tire width for a GTO is only 245. WS6's are definately mean but the 05 goat is more luxurious and is a faster ride, especially with some decent tires. If this is your first performance car purchase, get something with a warranty unless you:
A) have lots of cash to burn on the car, or
B) are a mechanic and enjoy working on your car regularly
