Re: Nissan Maxima Vs Camaro (video)
Sequence of events that led up to that name:
1. August 2001 issue of Motor Trend arrives in Saudi Arabia in October 2001
2. Kid who thinks he drives a modded Max picks it up and sees the Saleen S7
3. "Ooooh look a super fast car by Saleen that's not a Mustang let me change my screen names to that so I can look cool while telling people I beat a Camaro I never raced"

Re: Nissan Maxima Vs Camaro (video)
Um -
We might need to hold up on that one, Bad.
I think I got confused about whether or not the vid car was an LT1, 'cause there was an extended discussion about an E320 and an LT1 in the middle of this thread.
But if the video car was an LS1, then oh yeah, he definitely had to be driving like me...

Re: Nissan Maxima Vs Camaro (video)
After wondering what I was missing, Oman, I found out it was all of page one in this thread.
Oops. Don't guess an A4 guy could have been driving like me.
That dude against the Benz, though...

Re: Nissan Maxima Vs Camaro (video)
minty, what the **** are you talking about..
since when are open street roads soooooooo much different than the track? A stock ss M6 could beat a 55 off the line with an even 2500 launch.("since you say the 55 weighs so much")
"not to mention the added stress of money on the race" - wtf does that have to do with anything
If there is money on the race, both drivers should be amped, not just the stick.

Re: Nissan Maxima Vs Camaro (video)
I've seen that yellow Camaro at some local places, IT IS A V6, he first told me it was a de-badged Z28 but when I popped the hood I noticed that little 3.8L engine under the hood . I guess he got the dealer to paint it competition yellow after he crashed his car due to a rotor going bad under warranty.

Re: Nissan Maxima Vs Camaro (video)
So I am sitting outside with my laptop, and I am trying to justify why you guys don't think that a Maxima couldn't beat an LS1. It can totally beat an LS1, and further more.... HOLY ****... I just saw a white blackbird... like I was saying, I think that maximas would have no problem beating... HOLY ****... I think the cows finally came home. AAWWWW Hell, never mind!!!

Re: Nissan Maxima Vs Camaro (video)
Everyone knows that the stock maxima can not beat the stock V6 camaro but when you put mods things are changed
By the way I saw a video of a SC Maximna vs SS

Re: Nissan Maxima Vs Camaro (video)
i think most people think that for the most part, youd have to really tune up a Maxipad to smoke a LS1. but really, if your going to dump all that money into rice..why not just get a fast car? I'd say youd need about 10k to be up there with a LS1. I duno many people that put 10k into a maxipad for performance, not show...do you?

Re: Nissan Maxima Vs Camaro (video)
No .. you have to put more than 10K to beat the Z28 .. about me I put more than 16k
but to beat the SS you have to put more than 50K in a maxima

Re: Nissan Maxima Vs Camaro (video)
a guy i know on the internet has a sc a4 maxima that runs 14.80's and makes about 280 horse. granted a stock luxo auto tranny isnt the best for performance but a 5spd (now 6) and 20hp isnt going to make it run with an ls1. i still wanna know how you make 300hp n/a in a maxima with "mild" stuff. a 300hp maxima would be making over 1.6hp per cubic inch. doesnt sound too mild to me nor does a 563hp ls1 (346x1.63)

Re: Nissan Maxima Vs Camaro (video)
Well, to me, mild is anything short of forced induction. I.E. intake, exhaust, electrical system, and handling mods. I wouldn't believe the 310 HP number since the guy who posted this thread isn't even the driver or remotely related in any way to the driver/owner of the car.
I don't believe the engine has had any internal modifications.
The point is that it gave that LS1 a good run even though its not insanely modified.
