I'm not sure how I did it..but I'll take it as a kill because I was ahead of him, although I know his car should be faster than mine.

We roll up to the light and we both smile. He says..Thats a sharp car...I say the same...

The light turns...I'm holding it in first and he punches it FIRST..then I follow. I grab second and get sideways then I hear him shift into second by this time I'm about a foot ahead of him. I grab third and stay about a foot ahead of him. I really don't understand how my Z06 with only 385hp beat his Viper.

Well...Thats one thing I've always wanted to do is beat a Viper GTS...

This guy was about 22yrs old..Maybe I'll run into him again and have my video camera with me. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

You Z06 has 100-126hp more than you but you weight 256 less in the 1/4mile you are only .5sec slower and in a autox you are soooooo much faster like 2-3mph every turn. That means you will be 1/2 a lap ahead by the 1st lap. Is anything done to your vette. I am still waiting for th eday Viper wants a race!!!

Yea it was pretty awesome...Because I haven't been beaten yet, and I thought for sure this would stop my litte streak..oh well

Last time I was at the track there was a couple vipers and Z06s. One Viper blew his clutch another one ran 12.5s with a quesionable driver. The Z06 was running 12.3s but trapped about 5 mph less then the viper. Both of these cars were stock with the exception of a K&N airfilter on the vette. Motortrend has run 12.2s wih the viper and 12.5s with the Z06 so they are pretty evenly matched if you ask me. The viper has the power edge but the vette is lighter and probably alot easier to launch

After driving my friends Viper that I'm going to be racing in a few weeks, I would have to say good job. Even if he had a faster car you killed the driver. The cars aren't very forgiving, and are twitchy as hell on even remotely quick gear shifts. I granny shifted 2nd gear and was so sideways I had to let off and try again the first time I drove it. Took at least 5-6 tries before I would even feel confident I was capable of hitting close to a mid 12 timeslip. I consider myself a decent driver, so take this opinion for what its worth <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> It was a pretty freakin rad ride. I'd still rather have a z06. A mediocre driven viper would make a pretty good race for a well-driven z06, from what I can see with my experience with both cars. It is a quick car, with gutwrenching lowend, and insane top end also. There isn't an on/off switch at 4k like the ls1/ls6, that badboy stays lit all the time. grats on the victory.. It outpowers you.. but 100 ft lb of torque more takes some taming <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> Makes me want a bore/stroked ls1/ls6.
