This could get lengthy but it is a pretty good story. I have fared very well in street races in my hometown. There aren't a lot of LS1's and I have outran nearly ever Mustang in the whole town. However I do have a lot of friends that have Mustangs. So on Sat. night I am washing my car at 9:30. I get a call from one of my Mustang buddies who tells me to be at Super Quick(we hang out a lot there) at 10:00. I don't ask any questions and I tell him that I will be there. I get kinda curious because this is out of the ordinary. So my bestfriend was with me and he has a mustang so I get him to call one of his buddies to find out what is going on. Come to find out, the mustang guys were tired of me beating there *** and got some guy that lives 40 miles away to bring his 03 Cobra down to race me. I was pumped. I have wanted to race an 03 for a while now to shut my mustang buddies up. I have my good ol F1's on my car, so I call my buddy Avez and tell him to meet me at another buddies house because I need his Nitto's b/c I had a race with a Cobra. Avez has a 02 Z. So we swap tires and go to Super Quick. When we get to Super Quick, there are at least 30 people there and at least 10 Mustangs, I pull in with my F-body possy and we get lined out where we are gonna race. I wanted it to be a true drag race so we head out to a condemed road that is an awesome place to race. We get out there and line them up. We agree to race to 110 b/c that is around 1/4 mile speed for our cars and the part of the road that we raced on is not marked off. I heated my tires good and we lined them up. I launched at about 4g's and hooked like non other. The poor Cobra had no chance. The sad part is that he didn't pull back on me at all during the race. I outran a 390 hp 03 Cobra, with an SS with Loudmouth exhaust and an air lid and good tires by a modest 4 cars. After the race the guy came up to me and said that his car had nothing for mine and that he was really impressed. Actually I bet he is depressed. I would be.

how much horsepower are you making??, and the part about where you pulled 4 cars on a 03 with just those mods on the ss...sounds to me the guy couldnt drive, other then that good kill <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

 

I have never been on the dyno so I have no clue. Not bragging but my car runs really well, its a freak. I am not going to discuss the guys driving b/c I have never rode with him and I don't know the guy. I know that he drives a dirt track car but that has nothing to do with grabbing gears. I have been to the track once and my best was a 12.73, and I felt like I had a bad day. The race was cool though, I wouldn't have cared if I would have got beat, I just like to drive fast and I like the competition.

I have no clue, I asume that it was stock but I don't really know for sure. Who gives a ****, he still has about 70 ponies on me.

I know Jonezy well, his car is ******* insanely fast for airlid and loudmouth . 12.73 on a 2.1 60 foot @109. I wasn't there for the race but was told the 03 cobra drove pretty good.
Also I witnessed 2 03 cobras get beat this weeekend.
Both 03 cobras were stock. My buddy with a 2001 ram air with flp's cutout and lid Hammered ones *** by 3-4 cars from a 20 roll till 110.
Another firend has a 96 cobra , 4.30 gears, cutouts,nittos and intake. They went from a stop and my buddy in the 96 put 3 cars on the 03 cobra and the the cobra never even caught up.\
I also watched two 03 cobras back in november at our dragstrip one running low 14's @103mph lol and the other running mid 13's at 105. I had to walk up to both cars to verify they were both 03 cobras and sure enough they were.
I know these cars have potential, but to this day I have not seen one beat any ls1 in my area. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

My car must be a turd LS1 then, because back when I only had a couple little bolt ons, I got my *** HANDED TO ME by stock 03 Cobra from a 70 roll. Since then though, he has put a pulley on it, and I have done my stuff, and I beat him now on a 100 shot. Haven't raced him yet on the 150 shot. That will be fun.

 

Why would you even race him from a 70 role? Talk about totally putting the ball in his field. The advantaget that we have on the 03 Cobra is that it requires RPM's for that supercharger to do it's thing. Running from a 70 roll is probably cranking out 2 gear, thats a great power range for that car. I am not impressed at all with them though, that much money, that much listed horespower, results should be a lot better.

I know there is a silver 03 cobra rollin around philly area and he rapes all the ls1's and only has a few bolt on's.Ask nastyhawk he raped him and a few of my friends. There fast and they get faster with little effort

 

I personally know Jonezy also, i was there, and was the one who flagged them to go. Drew handed him his ***, and yes the guy could drive. From what the guy said he was stock, although he was stock he came out of the hole like a bad ***, but drew came out of the hole better. I agree with drew they are overrated, and they should be a hell of a lot faster then what they are stock.

Drew is an M6 with exhaust and lid, and yes it must be a factory freak because it hauls some major ***. First the 03 supercharger does not need many RPMs to do its thing. Max torque is 3500 rpm. At 70 an 03 would just be shifting to 3rd.

A friend of mine that has an 01SS M6 and I messed around while we were taking his car to Rapid Motorsports for H/C package on the way there we went from a 35 mph punch. He had all the bolt on's with 4.10's. His car has run multiple 11.9's on Dr's at 115mph. My 03 was bonestock with 100 miles on the ODO. Thru second we were even, He went to 3rd before me and when I went to 3rd he pulled about a 1/3 car, He went for 4th and his clutch was giving up and I at the time did not know it and shifted to 4th obviously pulling away. His clutch was shot and he had it replaced when the H/C when in.

To this day we both think he would have had a full car thru 4th with me pulling on the big end. My car just dynoed 376 rwhp and 366 rwtq SAE bonestock at 1700 miles. Broken in we feel we woulda been even. His H/C just dynoed 443 rwhp and 400+ rwtq. When I get mine pulleyed we will race them. I should be about 460 rwhp and 470 rwtq and the race should be real close.

Either the 03's you guys race are dogs or the people can't drive. These cars can be fast. I have driven LS1's and I own 1 so I know the difference. <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

lawlessjay. i saw a 03 cobra at walsh motor sports in detroit last month. with a mass air exhaust,a pulley and i think some tuning it togeather,it made 439.3rw hp on the dyno. so my point is,the 03cobra only needs afew boltons.

I know my place with a 03 cobra from a highway roll in my A4. The awesome thing about having a converter car on nittos is that from a stop you can take guys with even more rwhp than you. Everyone has there own opinion. If I was interested in a 1/4 mile only car I would put an auto in it. For me a sports/pony car should be shifted that is some of the fun of driving it. No way would I own an auto in a car like these that wasn't strictly for racing.

The bolt on 03's on Dr's have been consistently cutting high 1.5's to 1.7's on the tracks. I will still take the big HP advantage.

 

Good kill,getting your frends Nittos probably made a big difference.Once you got the jump on him there no way he can catch you without a big horsepower advantage.Besides killing Mustangs is a good sporting activaty,I bagged 2 GTs at track tuesday night in my Tahoe.Is there a bag limit on Mustangs in Kentucky?
