In Florida? What? The only thing that imports have over domestics here is numbers in volume. I've only gone a few times to the track, but the times I have gone, LS1 powered cars DOMINATE the Sportsman scene. Mustangs run a close second in the class. Ricers rank well behind (I'm talking in generalisms here, as we all are). Heck, the big crew cab trucks burn the ricers (those are some fast trucks!).
On the street, ricers never challenge me, the other day, one clearly lookin' for some action with a Mustang even pulled off the nearest expressway exit when he saw me comin' (maybe thought I'm FHP! he,he...) I dunno what it is, but I often get the "part the red sea" effect driving around in the SS. It commands a lot of respect in the streets here. I love it!!! Now, I'm sure to get flamed for some of the statements in this reply, so take your shots at me, I don't care, I'm a happy, not very skilled (see time in sig) Camaro Z28 SS driver who doesn't have to go to Ford or Ricer dot com forums for anything. I'm sure many 'Stang drivers who frequent this forum can smoke me and my ride, but hey, so what? More power to ya!

I have seen alot of fast imports, no matter what you drive, sooner or later you will come across someone faster. Brian, nothing wrong with getting beat, just use it as incentive to make improvements.

dont feel bad about the kill. if u had all that money he put into his loer civic it would have been a different. see even though he beat you his car is gutted, and pry looks like a low rent apartment inside. the pathectic thing about imports is even when they are fast they always have to use turbo and alot of green. american v8's n/a can make 600hp, can any v4 or v6 . no. they suck no replacement for displacement. imports suck anyway you look at it. i mean who dominates le man's c56 vette and viper. nascar, all carbed n cammed up smallblock v'8s we rock case closed

I went to a drag strip in Ennis, tx (i think it was NHRA, not sure). Two of the best races that went down was between a 96 or 97 Supra and a 68' camaro. Both of the cars were full blown, you could tell. On that race the Supra lost by two car lengths, the time on the Camaro was 10.4 @ 129 mph. The Supra ran an 11.1 @ 117 mph.
The other race was almost the same. A 97' Supra vs. another full blown 97' Camaro SS. The Camaro did an excellent start with a good reaction time, the supra on the other hand missed the launch nasty. The SS was about 6 cars ahead when the Supra finally got it. Everyone taught that the SS was going to win, but it didn't. The Supra managed to catch up and beat it by half a car. The SS ran 10.4 @114 mph and the supra 11.6 @121 mph.
I guess the moral of my story is: don't underestimate anyone's car.

uhhh on the street that would have been a win for the supra, but the camaro won that race. faster et and mph means a win. whoever crosses the finsh line in the fastest time wins, not who crosses it first.

well, i must admited that some of these imports are fast.

but we are talking about stock to stock now, if you put thousands of dollars to your car and race against another bone-stock car, of course you will win.
i like fast imports like supra, 300zx, or ferrari
i will not buy a civic, but if somebody give a 10 second civic i will drive it hard,
