I cant believe the nerve of some of you people to talk **** about the fuel injected 5.0s....I love the LS1 but give me a break when the 5.0s were around new other than a grand national....no piece of **** F-bodies from its time could do anything with it. Plus.....that engine is ancient outdated and proven. Not to mention that the whole movement of fuel injected performance began with the 5.0 mustang and buick grand nationals....so even if you hate Fords give credit were credit is due. Oh and by the way to some of those who said something about 15s in stock 5.0 mustangs either cant drive or full of ****....when they were new(not 150k miles and 15 years later)....14s all day seen it, had one, still got it...but it goes 9's now

Actually the 5.7 fbodies would consistently take the 302s, back in the day.

I've seen bolt on cars hit 12's several times with foxbodys, it's not uncommon. Just remember, the lower the displacement, the more you sacrifice in streetability. So a 400 hp 302 isn't going to be streetable, where as a 400 hp 350/346 would be. A ford 302 is only marginally easier to make faster than a chevy 305, due to availabily of parts. But in the foxbody chassis, weight is the winning factor.

Where are all the bolt-on 12 second 305s, then? It's amazing how well the stock 305s ran in the right trim with a 5 speed. Beyond stock, they just didn't have the potential. I think that there was never a serious aftermarket for them. I mean, if you were a chevy guy, what were you doing with a 305 instead of the 350?

I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but outside of the vette and Grand National, there weren't any sports cars outrunning with the 5.0s until '93 when Chevy started putting the LT1 in the F-bodies, and the new Toyota Supras came out.

Streetability is all in the combo, friend, and it's largely relative. To me a race-gas drinkin', nitrous snorting, blown and injected big block with one seat is streetable. I've heard others complain that if the car is too loud or lopes on idle it's not streetable. In any case, I don't think anyone would argue the streetability of my car and it's making well over 400 from a 302. It's not n/a, though.

Wow, these 5.0's with lots of work done to them and only running high 14's and a blown 347 only running mid 13's is pathetic. They must have been thrown together in about 20 mins by 5 year olds. Seriously my buddy's 93 gt 5.0 with a cobra intake, headers, cam (cant remember the model # but its not a big cam by any means), offroad h-pipe and flowmasters with some good tires ran a 12.91. I dunno what kind of drivers were posting those numbers but my lord they must have had no idea how to drive.

Is this based on your personal experience "back in the day"?

I've seen bolt on cars hit 12's several times with foxbodys, it's not uncommon.
Correct. And to the best of my knowledge, there is no such thing as a "bolt-on" 3rd GEN F-body (excepting the TTA, of course). If I am wrong, provide a link to the evidence, please.

I beg to differ with that...I have well over 400rwhp and I can drive my car anywhere I want...on any given day. Sh*t, if I decide I want to put her on the highhway and go to Florida(I live in Texas)...I can do that with no worries.

Yeah, the sad thing is that I am kinda reluctant to street race too much these days with it, because 12 sec cars have actually beaten me on a roll....because traction is anything but existant....I spin like crazy no matter what i do, while he just pulls, and lets out before i can walk him down.... This is on 275/50/15 nittos, my et streets are a different story but I usually dont like to cruise on them too often.
