Thumbs up I got OWNED by a Callaway Camaro

Well, just my second street/drag race with my Z28, and I got crushed, badly.

At least it was one of the good guys...

Saw an LT1 looking 4th gen pulling up from behind into an empty lane when I was getting ready to turn left, so I ducked in behind him and saw on the back "Callaway". Hell yeah I thought. He took off from the light and I did the same, got to the next red and we both took off on the green(I was a bit slow off), but he -really- took off, made me look slow, put 2-3 car lengths on me by the time I was getting into second(A4/2.73).

Man what a fast car, made me look like a total dog(which I am with just CAI/Magnaflow)...really woke me up to the fact that I need a stall or 3.73 like my old 3rd gen, because I had nothing on this dude off the line.

The Callaway was sweet with blackish 5stars and limo tint. Dude rolled his window down after the race when I was busting a U and I gave him the thumbs up and "nice car"..he said "yeah"....can't blame him.

Owned.

Those things are rare as hell. I was just lookin' at an old Road & Track of mine, issue March 1995, in which there's an article of the Callaway Camaro C8. It's got a 6.3L/383 pushin' 404 bhp and 412 tq. Handles amazingly, and R&T got it to do the 1/4 in 13.1 @ 110 (which, IMO, seems slow, but then again the C8's RWHP would be about 10 or so more than mine, so I guess I can believe it. R&T, like all mags similar to it, do get damn slow times for fast cars though.)

I wonder if that guy did anything else to it. The Callaway package for it cost $36,343!! That's on top of the Z28's price itself.

Did he opt for the body kit?:

No, no body kit...it looked like an LT1 from afar, then I saw what it was, but no gills, etc....very fast car...seemed "stock" didn't have big pipes or a huge exhaust noise at all, just pulled like a tug boat!

i don't know about that one, those awd ricers are damn quick off the line, and if they launch around 5000rpm's you won't have a chance

Remember though, back in 95 400+hp car was badass, compared to the 215hp mustang and 275hp camaro.

Callaway definatly wasent going for pretty with his body kit. Now the Sledgehammer corvette he made was about as good lookin as they get. obviously not counting the C6. Nice death ya dont but once in a life time see a callaway Camaro.
