It would definitely be a drivers race, I dont think anyone would dispute that. But the original post asked which would win if both had the same driver.
What would you guys give the win too?
05 GTO or 03 Cobra, stock for stock and the same driver!

I have no problem racing just about any car - forced-induction, bigger engine, whatever. That includes '04 & '05 GTO's with 65 or 85 more cubic inches.
If I lose, I either need more mods, more practice driving, or both.
I haven't had to worry about losing to any of the '04/'05 GTO's I've run across though...

cobra get my vote. i think the f body and gt slo are pretty even stock for stock. my 01 ws6 went 13.3's stock but i've only seen one gto at the track and it went 14's. my bud has a new 05 and stays pretty even with my other buds 00z28 w/borla and lid.

bottom line. forced induction or not they are both stock and the cobra will probably win I guess the gto has a chance of winning but still don't bring forced Induction into view they are still stock which means that the cobra comes from the factory with a blower (for those of you who did'nt know that)

stock and same driver(equal) Cobra everytime and pulling hard up top.
Mine went 12.62 @ 111 stock down to airpressure. GTO's are nice cars, I tried to buy my wife one. Her boss just got a Silver '05, his goal is to beat my truck.

Half of the posts here are about who's faster STOCK. Here on LS1TECH, I don't see hardly anyone who is stock anymore. Why don't you do comparisons, like the always mentioned pulley, full exhaust, chipped Cobra, versus, say, a cam only 05 GTO. You think Ford engineers DIDN'T know you could make mid 400's with just the above mentioned mods? Or that the GTO can make more power with tuning and a bigger cam? Of course they're not going to introduce an overpowered car to the market. Its up to the people who buy them to mod them, and they usually do. Or, how about you give 5 grand in mod money to both cars, and see what they can do?
This post sounds like a motor trend, or a Car & Driver article. Stock for stock comparisons are for grandmas and grandpas.
