Vette owners inside! 87 Vette vs 89 GTA
Been a while i havent posted much on here, but anyways there's this guy i use to know a while back and now i saw him after a few years and coincidentally we both ended up at BK. So on my way out we talked a bit and then we talked about our rides, and he wanted to have a race but i had to get back to work so i got his # and told him we'd get a race sometime soon. He's got a stock 87 vette auto, bone stock to the filter with about 98k miles on it. Im running my 89 GTA bone stock to the filter as well. I have no clue about vettes, any advice or suggestions?

I’d give a slight edge to the Vette. It weighs less, but the GTA probably has better gears. As far as I know, an 87 Vette and an 89 350 GTA should have about the same HP.
It’ll probably come down to the running condition of each car ( a lot of bad things can happen to a car over the course of 17 years), and what type of race. Some of those automatic Vettes had like 250-something gears and could be tough to race from certain roll speeds.
Do it and let us know what happens.

Some misinformation in this thread...
L98 F-Bodiess didn't come with manual transmissions. The T5 was too much of a ***** trans to take the torque from the L98
The 92 was the year they introduced the LT1. Before that, they used the same L98 as the F-Bodies. The L98 was a fine motor, but choked off way too much. The heads and the intake freed a lot of pent-up horsepower.

Me thinks it should be a relatively close race...
