Makes sense with a turbo, but then again turbos aren't just for LS1's.

What does your car run in the 1/4 with the turbo?

Care to elaborate on that statement a little more?

My manual-trans Mach is all-motor (stock motor with NOTHING done internally) and I hold my own against all but the most serious LS1 F-Bodies at my local track.

Was his SS a convertible? 3600 seems very high. My Firehawk weighed nowhere near that much (it was a while ago, but I remember it was in the 34xx`s). Heck, my brother`s steel body, cast iron block, fully loaded, automatic Firebird GTA weighed in the 3600`s at the scale here. And he even had just filled the washer fluid bottle!
My brother works at a quarry, so we have full access to the scale that weighs the trucks as they are leaving. Nice to be able to do that, but the quarry dust on nicely polished f-body sucks.

He happen to have a few Lead bricks in the trunk? There's no way a Z28 was 3,600lbs without a driver ... if he was in the car, that would probably be correct.

P.S. Gas weighs about 6 lbs a gallon .... 15 gallons = ~90lbs ... we're not talking about a huge difference between half tank and full tank ... it is realistically only 40-50lbs.

isnt the engine in the mach the same as the friggin 99-01 svt cobras? i know for sure the 03-04 cobras are hot. but i hear the 99-01 svt cobras are slow? never ran one. but i got 2 buddys with machs. a 03 and 04. my buddy with the 03 has a prochamber, no cats, flows, and predator tuned. he ran against my buddies c5 vette at the track. he got his a@@ handed. the c5 was stock. i forgot what the vette ran but he ran a 14.1@99 mph at san antonio raceway. my other buddy with a red 04 was stock and ran a 14.2. but he span out forever man. dont get me wrong the machs are potent. but i still like the ls1 in a race.

Keep in mind Mightymouse has a turbo with water tank and intercooler, and is a 9 second car with full suspension mods, including SFC`s. Take he mods away, and he would probably be close to 3400.
Here is a link to a list of all his mods:

They are similar, but not the same. Both are DOHC, but the Mach 1's have different heads and cams which give them more lower end torque than a 99/01 Cobra. Plus a different rear gear favors them.

99/01 Cobras are a mid 13 second car in stock form once you learn how to drive the IRS. You are also comparing a race at a track. What was the conditions at that track?, Sea level? Prep? etc all those things will affect an ET.

Nope. My buddy who worked with me did his alignment and David took him for a ride. jesse came back saying his head hurt.

On my website is Davids dyno video as well at Performance Autosport.

well, since you seem to be very close to me, how about we set up a meeting at SAR? My car only went 13.2's @ 107 with a 2.05 60' last time out at San Antonio Raceway.

Frankly, NO! Different heads, cams, intake, and exhaust.

What kind of elevation is San Antonio raceway? Because those cars are running a good 1.0 second and 5-7mph off what they can run at or near sea level. Low 13's, high 12's are very well within the capabilities of a Mach 1, however, not every driver is capable of getting the most out of the car. Dead, bone stock, right from the dealership, with a full tank of gas, my Mach 1 turned a 13.1 @105 and I'm far from the best driver in the world.

My buddy has an 01 that is pretty much a stock DD. It ran 13.50's.

I hate them on Mustangs too. Had them on all 3 and got fed up and went with magnaflow. Almost went with Magnaflow on the Z/28 before the ex and i split up.

Hey guys i finally got to race a Mach 1 this last Saturday. We were at the street races and i saw it so i hit him up about it and he was bone stock just like my car. So we race and i put about 2 cars on him. He was a fender on me from the launch then it was over when i got into second. After the race he told me that he raced a bone stock 98 Z28 and that he took it by a car and half, so he thought he was going to beat me, but he is getting full exhaust done and wants to race me again next week so I told him sure. Real cool guy though.

same trans ls1s are faster.FACT.

machs are not lighter.both cars are similar in weight.machs might put power down more smoothly from a launch but ls1s will overpower them midway down the track and slowly pass them.

close race yes.

advantage to ls1s.
