Viper vs. T/A
This is not really a street kill but an experience that happened to me early July. My 01' T/A died on the highway and I was able to get it to Tire Kingdom in Gastonia, N.C. Some guy brought and left a Viper there for repair. The next day, (I had to leave my T/A there over night), I returned to pick up my T/A. The head mechanic and I talked for about 1/2 hour. Although, it was major uncool (but at the time, I was down with it), the mechanic took me for a spin in the Viper. All I can say is, "DAMN". In Gastonia, there's a long strip where people race all day. Anyway, he easily blew my T/A away. We got back to the shop and he was acting like the Viper was his. He went to open the hood to show me the engine block and broke some latch that's on the front/bottom of the hood. It snapped off like a twig. He was like, "Nothing that Guirrilla glue can't fix". After that, I got the hell out of dodge. I called the shop a couple of weeks later and found out that he was transferred to another Tire Kingdom.
The moral of the story is, beware of leaving your cars at mechanic shops over night. You have no idea what they're doing with/to your car.
But then again, by choice, I would never take my car (especially a Viper) to Tire Kingdom for repair. I know that it needed new tires and there was some electrical problem with it. It was an early 90's Viper.

Hmm, I just checked cars.com and the lowest price I found was for a red '94 Viper with 65k on it for $29,750. I think I'd rather spend the $10,000-$13,000 for the LS1 T/A, personally. Besides, the older Vipers aren't that much faster than a LS1 f-body are they?

Someone should run a Carfax on this one.

One of the local Typhoon guys took his truck to the dealership to get fixed. He got the truck back 2 days later with an extra 60 miles on it, and the problem wasn't fixed. He was not a happy camper to say the least.
