Default Ls6 Rx7

Hey what do you guys think of a 93 mazda rx7 with an 2003 zo6 ls6 in it? my buddy thinks that hes going to be pulling low 10's and high nines in the 1/4 mile. Hes been talking to all the rx7 guys and they all put ls1's in their cars no one has put an ls6 in yet. Im sure all of you have seen the vidoes of the ls powered rx7 with a twin turbo setup. I dont think that this car is going to be anything to laugh at, oh yeah just in case for some of you that dont know the rx7 only weighs 2800lbs!!!

a stock ls1 in an rx-7 runs 11's, an ls6 has about 50 more HP, then adding the turbo, itll be a nice 10 second car

I'd prefer a FC(86-91) rx7 with a ls1 in it. they are really good donor cars....stock gearing in the rear is 4.11 or 4.10...but the IRS is a bitch to hook up off the line. plus...if you strip them..you could get it down to 2500-2600lbs.

Ya but those look liek *** IMHO. The earlier ones do. The new ones, RX7 not 8, look soo ****** hawt. I would trade my car in a heartbeat to get one of those with a LS1. Although i dont think a stock LS6 RX7 will go 10's. I said STOCK. no nitrous or **** liek that. Definatly a hot car. GL

Tell him not to bother with the LS6 but rather a heads/cam LS1. Or at least a better cam in the LS6.

People who don't know any better seem to think there is a difference from the LS1 to the LS6, even after a heads/cam swap.

well he already has everything motor, trans and ecu hes just waiting on his subframe to come back which should be any day now. My concern is what do I have to do to my car to keep up? Im leaning toward a FI stoker motor. Other than that I have no clue on how to keep up with that other then chopping my grand am up and putting a stroker ls motor in it. That would be pretty f'n sweet too!!!

Leaning toward an FI stroker? Well, ****, who doesn't want that! You didn't exactly leave much room there!

Yeah, you WILL keep up with that!

we have a local (brian hinson of hinson super cars) that was one of the first(might have been the first) YEARS ago. THis was one of the most successful street racers EVER. Was a pretty stock LS1 on spray. Ran low 10s and when it was H/C/I and spray might have run 9s. I got to witness this car several times and was perhaps the most impressive cars i have ever seen on the street. He has currently ditched that and went to a turbo setup that ran at the Pump Gas Drags. He popped the motor though.
