ZX6 vs. SS, who would win?
I was wondering if I could beat my buddies bike in a race, or atleast give him a run. It's a stock '98 Kawi ZX6. My mods are below. Not a kill but just wondering if it could be a kill, I might race him and let you guys know.

wouldn't it depend on what model it was? I thought the ZX6 RR was the fastest model? My friend had a 97 zx6 for a short period of time and for a bike it was heavy and slow as ****.

No, it wouldnt....ANY sport bike made since 1990 will walk all over a mostly stock LS1....period. I have a very fast LS1 and I have my hands full with a new modded 600 (off the bottle)....a stock SS will not come anywhere near a 97+600 bike with a half *** rider...

98 zx6s make what 85hp or so and 60lbs of tq and weighs i assume around 380ish + a 160lb rider=not very much compared to
330hp 3400lbs and a 160lb driver

rr's didnt come out til 03 w/the introduction of the zx6r (636)

rr's are slower than zx6r, but they keep them around for racing homologation(sp) where the displacement limit is 600cc. the 636 has more torque and is faster.
oh and for the QB, you are 12-13, he is 10-11, he will rape you and you will not walk right for a week.

according to a spec sheet from ninjaguide.com the dry weight of a 98 zx6 is 429lbs and the curb weight is 486lbs and I would assume either one of those is without a rider??

yes your correct, curb weight is without a rider. if the 98ZX6 is a uniseat then you might have a chance with spray. i agree with everyone else though, you'll still get beat.
6RR is the race version
636R came out in 03 and do put down more HP and TQ. ive sceen a '03 636 run 6.6 in the 1/8th mile with a 150lbs rider, built like a horse jockey.
a buddy of mine has the new '05 636(ZX6R), full exhaust and a pc3 tuned, 121 whp, good luck chasing one of those down.

Ive got an 01 zx6r...there is no way in hell you could win. Yes they do run mid 11's stock with a good rider...but you put a full exhaust and jet kit on there and you will be moving when you hit that rev limmter or 14,500. It really opens the top end up.
