i agree a 13.7 shouldnt beat an auto LS1 but given more track time i'll be running better then 13.7....if i can get my 60' down i think i should be able to get low 13s high 12s...car was spinning real bad....gonna put new shocks on change the rims and tires and see if i can get it to hook better...and i'd love to race...roommates the only one that gets the motor for motor race though...every one else is fair game for the spray...

 

How did a LS1 trap 98mph at Moroso which is pretty close to sea level? I was just reading some stock vette times at corvetteforums and they were running 104+ MPH.
example:Not tryin' to make excuses, just wondering how that car could trap 98mph running on 8 cylinders.

 

i'm just telling you what the time slip reads...and no there is nothing wrong with the car...other then its a pretty much stock 98 auto...

 

I would still have it checked out because 300+ rwhp trapping 98mph definately has something wrong.

 

Those times are both pretty bad. Obviously well driven LS1s should be low 13s but a 280-290rwhp should easily be in the 12s.

 

there were definalty driver error on both parts...that being said...i still won both times we raced....will be going to the track alot more in the next few months....the driving will get better...

 

Better driving isn't going to help an auto. bring up a 98mph trap.

I can understand that SS running a 98mph run. First, its an auto and second, it has the LS1 intake manifold on it. No offence to anyone on the board (i have seen mid 13 second stock 98's and 99's) but 98's or 99's arent usually the fastest of the bunch. Our florida humidity is nasty too. Its getting better though as we near towards winter.

Good win bottlefed, Moroso's track prep was a given huh? With some practice and a 100 shot you've got to be in the 12's. That'll put u right at 380-400 rwhp in your GT. Get a nice launch and youll be in the 12's no prob, mid 12's I would think.

I just dont see how you said you ran mid 12's with the bottle yet your pulling 13.7 with cams, pullies, Intake and exhuast. Something smells fishy...did you really run 12's at the track....or run at the track at all before this day ????

 

Exactly man, you're trapping 108mph in a basically stock A4 Corvette. Granted, you're a little lighter and have the LS6 intake, but I don't see how a properly running LS1 fbody could run 98 mph. I can understand his horrible ET because driver error could play a part, but with a 2.1 60' he didn't exactly bog off the line.

 

I can understand the 98-00 not being as fast, and I can understand a newb running 14.x, but with a 2.1 60' and a 98mph trap something is wrong with his car. I'm not trying to make excuses or take anything away from bottlefed, but physics just doesn't agree with 2.1 60'+ 300+rwhp+ 98mph. Having and auto, ls1 intake and magnaflow catback doesn't give you a 220rwhp car

Unless I see a vid, I call on this whole story.

 

no i never ran the 1/4 mile only the 1/8 before and my times were just an estmate of what the 1/4 mile time should be...noride brought that up...no bs here...nothing to hide...obviously i may have been wrong...still think with some work driving wise i can run the numbers i said before..

 

no story...first where do you get that a stock ls1 has 300+ RWHP they rated at 320 from the factory at the flywheel...you saying they only lose 20 hp through the drivetrain?? his 2nd run he ran at 100.39 only got 2 runs in on the night...

 

If you stick around here a while, you'll find out that the fbody was underrated from the factory. A '98-'00 A4 with a catback&chip should put down 300rwhp give or take 5hp. Even at 100mph, I'd still tell him to have his car checked out. What was his 60' and ET on the second run?

This story is more than believable. I have seen LS1's running low 14's but not at Moroso where we are at sea level. That is strange. Though as far as the car being down on horsepower, 2 Guy's Garage (SPEEDCHANNEL) put an STS turbo on a stock SS. The crappy part is, that they dyno'd it before the turbo and it dyno'd 275-278rwhp and 425rwhp with the trubo. I was literally screaming BS at my television that day. Im not sure a lid and a chip would get you to 300rwhp but it might get you close.

Bottlefed, FYI GM underrated LS1's.
