I only paid 31k for mine new. How much would a WS6 cost now days if they still made them? The Firehawks were pretty bad *** cars but weren't they over 30K? How much were SS's? I've never been a big on the whole price issue. If you play that game then 03/04 cobra guys can bash C5 corvettes as being overpriced too for the performance. Oh, and my little 4.6 will tear up a stock LS1

Im gona stir up some **** ;D The blower is a "factory" mod on the 03-04 cobras. I would have probably bought an 03-04 Cobra if they wernt like 8K more then the 00 SS that I bought though ;D

Gotta love hypotheticals. IF the f-body was still being made it would be running an LS2 and be right in the SC'd 4v 4.6L power range in a lighter package.
How about we compare 98-02 4v 4.6 Cobras to the 98-02 LS1 f-body.
I've raced several NA 4v 4.6's. They don't hang from 3rd on.

 

Keyword is I. I know some people bought there Z28's for less than 20k new. It's weird that you brought up the WS6 when I was talking about a z28. Regardless, the WS6 is the same car as a bargain basement Z28 that people got for 19k. New, the fbody and GT are similar in price untill you get to the WS6/SS. I would compare the WS6/SS to the Roush/Steeda stage 1 GT's since that is mostly a visual package over the standard GT just like the WS6/SS is a visual package added to the standard Z28/Formula/Trans Am. I would compare the Firehawk to something like a Roush stage 2. GM didn't really offer anything to compete with the Cobra, because all of their more expensive fbodies were just visual changes revolving around the same car with only one engine offered. The fbody has always been made to compete against the GT which is evident by it's base price and similar characteristics to a GT. The Cobra shares almost nothing with a GT when it comes to performance---IRS, T56, 4V, blower---it's a totally different car which you may a premium to get your foot in the door(33-34 msrp) whereas you could've easily got your foot in the door with a Z28 for 22k and had the same performance as someone with a SS. Now you are comparing a pony car with a sports car. Comparing a fbody with a GT is an apples to apples comparison. Comparing a Cobra and Vette is an apples to oranges comparison.

resuts are in...sorry so late, just got home...well it was best out of three but it didnt make it to three races, only got two in and thats all i needed they werent the prettiest of runs but they got the job done...GT-2 SS-0. Sorry no video the guy didnt come though with the camera...wasnt pretty anyways...

on a side note....sucks for slowvette...didnt get to meet him but my roommate met him and drove up with him...some drunk guy hit him while the were fulling up and tore off his rear bumper....

stanger was right it was a drivers race as the carrs were pretty even...both races i jumped out ahead and stayed there...


ok and noride is gonna claim that i cheated i got to the track around 6:30 he didnt get there till 8-8:30 so i had already made 3 passes by the time he got there...he claims that was cheating...
