I have a 99 frc with 425rwhp vs. 03 cobra with 590rwhp . I raced cobras with 470-500rwhp and bet them by a car or two. I run between 97-98.5mph in the 8th,and this race would be from 40 or 50 mph to 130 or so. another car I have raced is an 06 ZO6 from 70-180 .We were door to door all the way to 160 -165 and then he pulled on me by a car or less to 180. just trying to give you an idea of my car. Drivers are equal!

 

You should be able to beat cobras with more hp than you, but 165rwhp is too much to overcome. If he's a good driver, there's just no way.

 

It should be a good race since you are a lot lighter then he is but like Redneck said 165rwhp is alot to over come.. I have beaten many cobras that have over a 100 more rwhp then me, but that was at the track where my car can get out of the hole great.. A roll race it should be close but I will have to give it to the cobra since he has that much more rwhp then you..

Power-Weight Ratio: 6.21 pounds per horsepower

Mustang should win, but everyone knows there are so many factors when racing, driver skill, who can hook, how far you race, etc.

Don't underestimate this Cobra, he has 165 RWHP on you while you have almost 500 lbs on him, then you have to factor in the weight of the driver, but the power is too much to be overcome by weight in this case.

So race him and post results, get it on tape, and I am pulling for you bro.

 

I'm confused, you said theoretically the vette should win, but showed that the power/weight ratio was in favor of the cobra.

A 590rwhp Cobra should trap anywhere from 100-105mph in the
1/8th and 127-130mph in the 1/4.

You have the weight advantage from a roll, but he has tons more torque
than you do immediately upon going WOT. 50mph is a sweet spot too
for Cobras with stock gears (3.55's). It may be for you as well though.
I think running from a role will ultimately hurt you...badly.

On a good set of tires, that Cobra should run high 10's at around 130mph
as a reference.

I say run him and see what you can do. Don't be surprised if you take
a loss on this one though.

I mis-read your initial post. I thought you said you have 485rwhp, not
425rwhp. You're toast.

pose a threat to me in stock form.
