mach 1's are a lot lighter than cobras also... the snakes have iron block, heads etc whereas machs have aluminum

Mach 1 compression ratio is 10 to 1. Cobras is 8 to 1 due to the boost. The Cobras also have a forged bottom end and the Machs do not.

oh... well i mean the non supercharged ones... from now on im gonna start reffering to 01 and down as Cobras, and 03 and 04s will be Terminators. Just to alleviate some of the confusion... so... with that said... Cobras still have foged bottom ends? I know the terminators do. So pretty much the difference between a Cobra and a Mach1 is... aluminum block to iron block, IRS to solid rear, and gears?

I'm surprised you'd say that being from VA beach. Cosby lives there. I'm sure you have heard of him. What's your ET on that firechicken? When properly geared n/a cobras are respectable from a dig. I leave the roll races for the fat chicks. Sorry.

To set the record straight:

96-01 N/a cobras came with a alum block, forged crank with cast pistons (hypereutectic, yes same as your F-body) and rods
Mach 1's that came with a 5 spd had a forged crank and autos came with a cast crank. Both had cast rods and pistons.

The Mach 1 motor is NOT the same exact motor as the pre-03 Cobra. The Mach 1 engine is very closely related to the ones in the Lincoln Aviator and Mercury Marauder. They are all aluminum, block and heads. The heads are the same exact ones as are on the 03/04 Cobras. To help boost the low end torque which was lacking in the earlier Cobra motors, Ford used cams out of the 5.4L Lincoln Navigator. Changes were made to the intake and exhaust and the upper intake was modified to accept the shaker scoop.

The Mach should have more punch at any speed from what I have seen.
I don't know about that, I raced several Mach 1's from a dig and roll when I was stock and one had 4.10's and a "chip" and once we were over 50 mph and I pulled pretty well and yes they do hook well but every one I pulled from when roll. I would not consider it as fair because he DR's which is a huge advantage in street racing but thats awesome that you won, Thank goodness you didn't have DR or it would have been worse. Good kill

I never understand why people ask " will I win? " Thats the whole point of racing. Just race him and see. Personally I have not seen an 11 sec Mach. I have seen 50 11 sec LS1"s. Chances are in your favor, now zip it and go demonstrate a spanking. ( You hope )

jayplay, if you don't understand then you've never been in a situation where everyone and their brother rags on your shitty *** car for over a year. Typically, you'll buy a car than can give em a run, but you want to make sure you can walk him before you try to exact a years worth of revernge.

it's not just a race to see who wins.. it's pride, and more often than not it's about teaching a lesson to some overconfident douche bag. So in short, I'd ask a knowledgable car board before taking my chance.

The only reason this situation doesn't pertain to me particularly is because when I got my new car I made sure it would STOMP on my "friend's" Mustang.

But I agree that MOST races aren't a big deal. win or lose it's just for fun. Unless it's revenge.... which can be fun too.

I will personally post my next 1/4 pass so you can see an 11 sec. Mach. Here is a video of a Mach 1 with a prochamber midpipe,K&N drop in and DR's running 12.5 @ 109mph......enjoy.

Bolt-on pre-Terminator Cobras have been known to do ok, from time to time.

Clicky-clicky

How high are you Mach 1 guys coming out of the hole? Sounds like it's up around 3500-4000.
The few I have ran into on the street have substantially differed in their performance. One wasn't much of a race, the other hung quite well up to around 100, just before we shut it down.
Not much of a Mustang guy, but def. like the Mach 1's, especially the white ones.

I like those stangs, only ever come across one that looked interested in racing. Didn't happen though, he kept playing around like he was going to then letting off. I ended up following him to a "spot", but he was leading me deep into Pacoima, those from over know here the deal w/ that place, so i felt it in my best interest to go home w/ my life and my car. Gang members don't play around here the guy down the street got his car shot three times for winning a race.
