Talon TSI vs. Sleeper Z28
I was on my way home from work, but what do I see but a stock-looking blue z-28 with *gasp* blue neons; it's ON right? well we're on the highway so I edge up to him at about 80mph, line up and get his attention. I downshift to 3rd to get the turbo spooled up, and like a warning shot he jumps off (wow that thing is ****ing fast) is my first thought as he instantly jumps a car and a half ahead. He loses that same momentum but he still manages to creep ahead steadily, having about 2 cars on me by the time we reached 140. Knowing that my car's top speed is right around 150, I acknowledge the loss and think to myself, just maybe I'll get a second chance with this guy from a lower speed....
2 weeks later, Just as you WOULD'NT expect I see this blue camaro as I'm driving home (just after exiting the highway), I think NO WAY I couldn't be this lucky; U-TURN just because I have this bitter spot and MAYBE this is the car. By the time I get back to him i see blue neons lighting the underside of the car, and the same (would like to keep anonymous) plates b/c of popo. Apparently he saw my headlights coming up fast and slowed down (Both were friday nights in a town known for weekend cruising, this guy was looking for a race tonight), we were going about 30 and I'm in 3rd gear, we go on 3 and this guy just LIGHTS MY *** UP, I mean this couldn't have been that car I already raced, because it was somewhat close before, and trust me he was WOT the first time, judging by the evil sounding ls-1. So back to reality, I'm shifting to 4th and this guy is 10 carlengths ahead within 3 seconds. When I finally catch up I give this guy a BIG 2 thumbs up, and go on my way.
So my question is nitrous, extreme all-motor buildup, or (what makes most sense by the pure 10-11 second EVILNESS of this car) twin turbo LS1? What is ur guy's opinion, because I never would've thought that it was the same car but I saw with my own eyes the custom plates and *confusing* neons.
BTW, at the time of these races my car (guesstimate) should have run a mid-low 13 in the 1/4, but not really known for it's top end, which is why this was so confusing to me until I realized that this time he was LOOKING for races.

for comparisons sake, have you ever raced a stock ls1 car? If you run low 13s, Id guess thats on par with a stock ls1, but with the ls1 trapping higher for the advantage from a roll. Im just thinking it would be easier for these guys to figure out what the guy had by comparing it to something we all know.
And yea, thats wierd with the neons. Hopefully he's just using them to get cash from people who think that he's a ricer.

You know what, I don't think I have EVER raced a stock ls-1. So I started thinking about that one day, and I guess that means its a pretty damn good motor if all of the 5 or 6 ls1's I raced decided to take it further right? The funniest comparison was the supercharged SS I raced just for fun in my 14 second mostly stock eclipse (damn that was embarrassing).
The only stock ls1/lt1 race ive had was an auto convertible lt1 t/a in my talon, needless to say he lost pretty bad.

who knows man. There is so much you can do with a car. It sounds as though the first time you may have caught him with an empty bottle. Where as the 2nd time....well you know. Good death anyway.

I dunno, but why are you roll racing your TSi? Is your's one of the FWD TSi's? If its AWD, you need to stoplight race that thing. The guy with the neon under his camaro is a genius though, judging from his style- I'd assume its tastefully modded, lol.

I think he has a damn good plan, mod the **** out of it under the hood, then slap some removable neons and some funky plates on it, act like a ricer, and take loads of $$ from people like you.

Why are you in third gear at only 30mph? That gives you even a bigger disadvantage. Are you stock? Is this car FWD or AWD? It's very important especially when racing these V8's to be right in the thick of your powerband when you hit the hammer or they will put 2-3 cars on you right off the bat. Damn torque!
Good death.

All it really takes to get a ls1 car into the 11's is a good cam, and cylinder heads.... there are quite a few that can get in the 10's with h/c.... the other good thing, ls1's are very receptive to nitrous and people spray 100 shots on stock motors with over 100k miles. So h/c and a 100-150 shot, mid 10 second daily driver.

haha neons are a great trick to get people to lose respect for your car, and then gain it right back as they are watching your tail lights fade away over the horizon

theres no need to talk trash about this mans car. he came on here acknowledging our cars are fast and just wanted to know what we thought about the car he raced. he showed no disrespect to anybody and, therefor, deserves our respect.
