Default First time on the 75 shot and lost to a 03 KB Cobra...

Hey all:

I just had a NX system installed about a week ago and went with a 75 shot. I also have all the bolt-ons with LT headers and full exhaust, heads and cam, 3,200 stall with 342 gears. This was my first time EVER using a nitrous system on a car.

I meet up with some friends this Saturday night at a local spot. One of my good friends came out with his 03 Cobra convertable. We where there about an hour when I heard someone say " did you see that KB Cobra " I over heard that and turned around and to my suprise he just had it installed that day prior. Its the 2.2 KB running 14-15 PSI. He also has a cold air kit, x-pipe with a catback.

On the way home that night we made a few runs from 65-140+. From 65 to about 110 we stayed about dead even, but after 110 he started pulling and around 140+ he put about 1 1/2 to 2 cars on me and was still pulling. Also he had a passanger which added about 250LB to his car.

I do have to say that all the hype I heard about how nitrous kicks in so hard, I really could'nt fill it like I thought I would, Maybe because it is only a 75 shot.

I did lose, but I lost to a good friend with a bad azz car. KB Cobra's have my respect. I miss my 03 SB Cobra now.

Just wanted to share it with you even though it was a loss.

Nice runs, I'm sure it was all digitally mastered and from the safety of your living room via a virtual reality program such as a variation of Need for Speed or something, no?

uuuugh, 14-15#'s. Why not just keep the eaton??

Anyway, good "loss", up the shot to a 150 and you should take him.

He wants to keep it safe and not hurt the motor. He said put down 502HP and 540 torq.

We had close dyno #'s I put down 489HP and 538torq on the 75 shot

How did you lose if he only had 13hp on you?

Because the Cobra had more under the curve and/or on the top end. MAX HP/TQ does not necessarily win races

I wish I had the answer. That's why I stated that It didn't fill like the 75 shot hit very hard.

Lets see... he stayed even until 110mph, and then only lost by 1-2 cars.

Over 100mph areodynamics probibly start to play a big role, not to mention overall gearing. (I dont know what the Drag coeficant or overall gear ratios on ether car are, I'm just saying that it wasnt like he got raped.)

Thats my theory... anyway, kudos for posting a good death.

edit: Just read your sig, you have an A4 and he has an M6 (right?) My money is deffenetly on your gearing.

I would think a camaro has better aerodynamics than a mustang. I could be wrong though.

Sounds like passenger in the Cobra needs to go on a diet.

If I'm not mistaken Kenne Bells, or rather any any twin screw superchargers are mean from digs, they don't need to spool up like Vortecs (centrifical sp?) do.

He makes more power than you and it a few hundred more pounds more, I have to say it's gearing. If you moved up to 125 shot you should walk him.

I said the exact same thing when I had my 75shot on. I had it in when I first installed my nitrous. My friend and I did a WOT pas from a dig and I didn't even think the nitrous was coming on, despite the fact my progressive controller was telling me otherwise. My friend said it pulled a lot harder, but his butt dyno is either much more sensitive then mine, or he was getting the placebo effect.

Long story short we put the 100shot on, and I instantly felt it. The 150 was even more nasty.

Basically out of the 6-7 guys I've talked to with sprayed LS1s, all of them have said they couldn't feel the 75 shot.

Who in stupid hell would run 15LBS of boost on a 4K set up when you can have 17LBS on a Ported Eaton and 500+ RWHP for $600? 18-21LBS should be a minimum with 580-610RWHP. Good run though.

What was your bottle pressure? Wet or Dry shot? You should have definately felt the 75 shot.
