Default Raced a cadillac

I was with a friend on my way home from lunch and I rolled up next to a cadillac. When I got up next to it, I heard something loud. I didn't think it was the cadillac, because it's a cadillac. (It had very dark tint as well) Anyway, he rolls a little before the light. Then I roll up a little bit. Then he rolls up again. At this point, i'm wondering if he wants to race. The light turns green and he guns it. This car was loud. It had a really good sounding exhaust on it. Anyway, I got a late hit since I was so surprised a cadillac was racing me. I got on it and started to pull, but then let off because there was a turn. (What I'm about to say was stupid and I regret it) We both rolled up to a short school zone. Right after the "end school zone" sign he got on it and so did I. I pulled on him pretty bad, but it sounded so fast. We went from 15-50 or something like that and I had like 3 cars on him. (I might be over exaggerating) Anyway, he pulled up next to me and said it was a 4.9L. It looked like a 99 model cadillac or something.

Are those cars quick? It didn't seem that fast, but sounded nice. He had a full exhaust on it he said. I'm not sure of the muffler though. It was louder than my car and I have LT's...(weird)

they have a 300bhp northstar V8. The way I hear it, their top end is better than the bottom end, but still...its a caddy...

Isn't there a couple different motors. Like a 4.6 and a 4.9L?

4.9 I thought was just a 305 Motor? My gf's grandmas 96 cadillac seville sedan had a 4.9L in it and it was no northstar.

I think your right about the 305 motor. It didn't really seem like this car had 300bhp and I know it wasn't an LS1.

Does anyone have a general idea what a 98 cadillac would run in the quarter? 15.0 or something...I think the 4.6L is actually faster than the 4.9L, or am I wrong? I heard somewhere that the 4.9L only has like 200bhp or something and the 4.6 has 275-300.

Corsa makes a catback for the older style STS. And they are faster than an auto Mustang GT (not saying much).

yeah my dad has a 98' caddy the 2 doors elderado. its a northstar v8 they are 300bhp and yes they suck for low end torque but once u get them to around 4200+ they start to pull pretty nice. they run low 15's/ highish 14's. prolly like 230 at the wheels.this is from what i read on the caddy forums after he bought the car and i wanted to find out about it. the older 4.7 and 4.9's are slower, my moms last caddy was a 91' fleetwood with the 4.9 in it i think it was 225bhp from what i remember i dont know about the 4.7. but they are definatly nuttin comapred to the northstars. also those northstars can bolt on the supercharger from some other caddy i forget witch one that came with them from the factory.

They have nortstars in them. It's funny though, I raced a clean one lastnight around the same model as the one you are talking about. I put maybe 2-3 cars on it.

If it was a 93 or newer STS, Deville or SLS then it came with the 4.6 liter Northstar. The STS has 300hp and the Deville and SLS has 275hp. My dad bought a new 93 STS when they first came with the Northstar and the best time I ever got out of it was a 14.7, but it would run 14.8-14.9's all day long with a good amount of torque steer.
