Check out what this tool from another forum said when I told him about this thread...
yeah but your point is ridiculous to start with. who races at stoplights anyways? *******s, thats who. drag racing is 'meh' to me at best but i do see the draw to people with very powerful cars.
what matters to me is having a fun, tight machine that rewards the driver every time they get into it and drive spirited. if you do this in auto-x then so be it. you are learning the limits of your car and how to control it better than any drag racer could hope too.
the point about the s2000 is ... well, pointless. the car wasn't MEANT to have torque and stating that some american muscle car has more hp halfway through its rpm range is dumb at best. it wasn't meant to drag. its a canyon/auto-x car and it offers some of the best, unwatered down performance you can buy. if having a high revving 4-cylinder strapped to one of the most agile chasis under $50,000 is a step down to you than have fun at your stoplights with your v8's
don't you drive an automatic camaro? hope you enjoy using one foot to drive.

I've always seen the S2000's 240 horses as just an advertising gimmick. Horsepower is a really abstract thing, and is usually just computed from the torque curve anyway.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who has seen this:
HP = TQ * RPM / 5252
So if you can rev a car to 9000 rpms, all you have to do is get even a marginal amount of torque to get a high horsepower rating.

This argument is pointless.
Lots of people just arguing semantics.
The S2000 is a better handling car. As in "handling", more feel, feedback, sharper responses, easier to control, etc.
The F-body outperforms it in every measureable way(except braking I'm sure), grip, corner exit speed, trap speed, etc. Lap times etc.....I do believe as has been stated that depending on the AutoX setup(not road course as some posts seem to confuse) that the S2000 could potentially beat a Camaro....that makes alot of sense as the two cars lateral grip capability is similar, but the S2000 weighs significantly less. This would be very very close, no real advantage either way. The F-body's power advantage is somewhat negated at the AutoX.
The S2000 has a far more sophisticated suspension than the F-body, that's why it "handles" better. Independent rear vs live axle(becomes very advantageous on rough surfaces), double wishbown front suspension vs machpherson stuts....chasis rigidity...c'mon, it's obvious why people aren't just laying down for this arugment.
That said, all that sophistication and feel doesn't mean an F-body won't easily beat a S2000 on a road course, or in competitive racing, but everyone who keeps drudging up this years old thread(about a drag race no less) should understand what other people mean when describing handling, and of course the Honda fans should realize sophistication does not=victory.
