Even though it's a little late, let me give u some advice: Most people with dsm's that talk a lot of **** really aren't ****. There are so many well built fast ones that it just doesn't pay off to be cocky pushing anything less than 400hp.

Yo, I was out driftin ma Terminater when I's herd a rukus, den I dropped it down and noticed a LS1......"Holy Angel music".....and a Talon.........."sound of wrences falling down the stairs" and dey was rippin it up. I flewz by em both ............and did notice the LS1 won. WTF did I just type. I need my medicine.

I lost to an eclipse today... fast little ****** had a 50trim and alky injection in his car with supporting mods.. But I beat a 5.0 afterwards and was again pleased with myself.

Honestly while the 14b Stocker can put up a god fight, its not enough to ake down the average LS1. So does he have the stocker or not?
Love these dsm threads.I own both so can talk about both.Turbo dsms bone stock awd or fwd not very fast..the awd went low 15 high 14 and the fwd were a bit faster usually mid 14s stock .
Fwd are lighter but awd launch better.
They can be as fast as a stock lt1 with simple like twenty dollar mod. Just up the boost to 15psi or so. Another couple pounds can be added by simply buying a 100 dollar fuel pump. That will get you much closer to a stock ls1. Again the fwd weigh 2700 pounds and the awd about 3100. They have a good 400 to 500 pounds on our fourth gens.
So a 300 hp dsm can actually compete against a 350 stock ls1.Since ls1 are usually underrated.
So for the dsm to really roast an mildly modded ls1 or lt1 they need to run bigger turbos with support mods or race fuel or both. The stock 14b have gone 12s on race gas.I think the record is 10s with some spray.
They are actuall easy cars to mod up and pretty easy to work on.The mits 2.0 engine is a super motor. Can put out lots of power even in stock form
Now there are lots of kids buying the old dsms. And they are too broke or stupid to tune them up and maintain them so a lot will be very slow. Some guys are smarter and they can be made stupid fast if you know what you are doing.
I have had a 92,97 and now have 91 fwd turbo laser and 97 awd turbo talon.
I bought the 91 to sell ,it was dead and fixed it since know these cars so well.
my 97 is stupidly modded and just finishing it up. We are talking 650 hp capable on race gas and over 500 hp on pump. talking engine hp here not rwhp.
But just recently ordered twin turbo kit for my 99 trans am so it will be smoking fast also.
I also am coaching a few dsm guys and some f body guys and the dsm guys cars are not slow with me helping.
I would not be fast to be on an near stock ls1 or lt1 against a 17psi or so dsm even on the stock turbo.
As said though the newer dsm turbos are not that great stock the turbos are too small to really get them flying.
