Raced 3 LS1's, Cobra, 1 Z06 and a turbo Datsun Last week Tuesday out in Tomball(249 and Cypresswood), I had a chance to run some nice cars. Since this was my first time out there, I really didn't know what to expect. After talking to a few people for about an hour or so, I was approached by some guy in a late 70's early 80's Datsun. After talking to him finding out more about his car we finally decided to run. On our way to race, we ran into a C5 Z06 with bolt on's and ask him if he would like to join, he agreed so we proceded to head toward the feeder of 249. We decided to go from a 30 roll, with me in the middle, Datsun to my left and the Vette to my right. I honk the horn 3 times and take off. I pull instantly on both cars, but to my surprise the Datsun is pulling on me pretty hard. With me and the C5 neck and neck we proceded to take it to 130 with no one pulling on one another. With the Datsun ahead by 2-3 cars we decided to shut it down. We turned around and now we decided to do it from a 40 roll. Same outcome, but this time I redlined giving the advantage to the c5. So we take it back to the parking lot, let our cars cool down for awhile. While talking to some people, I was approached by a guy with an LS1. I asked him what he had and told me lid, exhaust,headers,etc. basically all the bolton's. He told me his best time on motor was 12.3 at 114 and 11.7 on gas. He informed me that his bottle was empty so he wouldn't be able to spray on me. So we take it to the feeder once again and did it from a 20 punch. I instantly pulled a half a car on him and gradually started to pull away slightly up to 130 or so. We ran atleast 4 more times and each time was the same outcome. So on our way back to the parking lot, I ran into a cobra that flaged me down and wanted to run. I'm kind of worried at the time since I just ran my car pretty hard and didn't want anything to go wrong with the motor. So I started to think and said f it, if something goes wrong it just gives me a reason to build it. So anyway, this time we head up to 249 the freeway for some highspeed runs. This time we go from a 30 punch. He honks and takes of first. I switch to 3rd and instantly start making up ground from when he took off first. Now I'm going into 4th and start pulling about a car. In the process of going to 5th, I notice my egt gauge blinking red. So I instantly shut it down. I pull back into the parking lot and shut it down for about an hour. On my way out from the meet, I decided to follow the crowd. Which was 4 LS1's and a old school Nova. Once again I pull into the middle, with an LS1 on both sides of me. I down shift into 3rd, wait until they honk and took off. Once again I jumped out about a half a car and continued to increase the lead up to 130 or so, with the closest one about 2 cars back. Everyone was real cool giving me the thumbs up as they left. This was by far the best racing I have had in awhile. The erson with the Datsun has the video footage so I will ask him to host it for you all to see.
