Hey guys, great site here. I got a 93 gt and I was wondering, will h/c/i be enough with bolt ons to beat an ls1? My buddy doesnt think it'll make much hp being a 302 and all. Thanks.

But as for your direct question, it depends what you have done exactly. You had what ~225bhp stock (flywheel). A poor setup may have only netted you 20 or so rwhp. Alternatly you may have a great setup making well over 300rwhp.
I've seen well driven Fox's clock 12.9's with 270'ish rwhp.

Bolt ons are enough, if you have the suspension and tires to pull great 60' times. I've heard/seen of people pulling high 12's with only bolt ons, but that is NOT common by far. As others have said, we need to know more about your setup... you need to be able to run mid-low 13's to run with a stock LS1 with a capable drivier. H/C/i may be enough, it may not...

Well we need to know what HCI you have, what tranny you have and what your rear end is, along with what he's got done. That's the only way we'll give you an accurate answer.
But because I think fox bodys are ugly and generally slow (notable exceptions of course) I'm going to go ahead and give this one to the F-body. You're going to get owned by buslengths.

Yeah. If you are runnign some near stock sopunding cam and a set iron eagles, not so much. If you go for AFR 205s and nasty cam with mean gears, DRs, etc, then yeah you have a great chance of hitting solid 12s and beating LS1s.
Or just get a biger cube motor. I know of no other car that is so easy to up the displacement on than the Fox. 331s are really popular these days, but you can go much bigger than that. Really helps even the odds against a more advanced, bigger displacement LS1.

I say it all depends on your set-up what kind of mustang you have and everything else that comes with it!! I had both cars and my mustang raped my ws-6. Im not a ls1 hater or anything but like I said I owned both cars at the same time. Sold my Ws-6 and kept the mustang and now Im going this weekend to buy another ls1. But my coupe is 2700#s, h/c/i but never used the induction. on motor I rape minor modified ls1's(small cams, headers, full exhaust, gears, lid.) I usually take them by 2-4 cars. GM's make good horsepower but they are pretty heavy and I know my weight on my coupe is the major thing here. So it all depends what weight/hp combo and tranny you have!! I raced my Ws-6 twice against my coupe and both times beat it by 2 cars. My trans am ran 12.3xx a4. By the way my mustang has a good healthy combo on a 306ci.

So if you have suspension, bolt ons, 275s, and 3.55's, I think the stock ls1 will easily be beaten.
