You'd be better off with a 3575 or T67.

The 3065 is a great turbo, a little to much money for most but FP is a great company to deal with. Also i don't think anybody has made over 600whp off the bottle with that turbo. With all supporting mods and a good tune most are around 550-590on race gas of course. Good luck with the car it will fly when its done.

No I was talking whp not engine hp .
So 550 whp would be close to 650 engine.
also supposedly someone topped out the FP3065 at 620 awhp.It as one one of the boards.the turbo advertises as 650 which is engine hp apparently.
I also have sheet metal intake already set up for direct port. So power is not a worry.heck 400 whp would be pretty quick in a car that weighs about same as new z06!!

Guys at Victor Research did get a 600whp+ out of it OFF the bottle, but again they pretty much maxed it. It's common for 510-550awhp (good for mid-low tens easy on a full weight car) from it full tilt. If you want more power, spray it or get the 3575. That's what I would do on a stroker anyway. BTW, are you AL92 on the DSM boards? You seem familiar for whatever reason and I am very good at noticing **** like that.
I like that V8 TT setup. That white TA looks just plain evil. Haha ...

Yep AL92 that is me!!! and you are 100% accurate there about Victor Research.I am buiding a street car mostly anyway, not a track car. So will likely be running around town on low twenties most of the time and car might see 30psi rarely and ditto on some spray.Be happy with 400whp around town on lower boost settings.
I am just a potential type guy. I like to know my cars have more potential than I am likely to ever use.
Thats why I like the twin turbo kit I am getting for my 99. You want 400rwhp,500rwhp no problem. You want more with forged internals thats possible too.
You can never be too rich or have too much horsepower!!! LOL
Also I think the FP3065 will be just fine for the 97 talon. Got to draw the line somewhere.
But the 99 trans am the line is drawn much higher up the potential hp chart.
So you think that intercooler looks fairly impressive in the trans am?

MY99: fantastic setup you'll have there, it's the best of both worlds.
it is extremely refreshing, and very rare, to see another person (i am also in my 40's) on this forum who appreciates the performance attributes of turbocharged 4-cylinders and V8's like the LS1, you're a true car-person i say. good thread.

Thanks guys..I have a fairly stock 91 fwd turbo and 80 ta with a 400 pontiac done up in there. I am selling the 91 fwd ,I bought it just just to play with and resell anyway and the 80 well just not into it anymore although 400 engines are fun..just not so good when passing the gas pump!

If you change the timing belt when you are supposed to..pretty reliable capable of 400 to 500 engine hp with stock internals. You can buy kevlar timing belts for pretty reasonable price although they don't make them for my 2.4 yet. You can also remove the factory balance shafts that can cause some problems. Other than that they are very reliable and are a proven and widely used motor.
Our lt1 and ls1 engines have their problems, the lt1 is a pain to work on,huge pain to change plugs, the opti is a stupid design and the lt1 get the famous intake manifold leak far too often.
The ls1 gets the piston slap thing and both engines have garbage pistons for any serious forced induction use.
Also think 98 /99 lsi had some bad oil pumps.
The 2.0 mits or my 2.4 mits are very easy in many ways to work on.Spark plug changes take like 5 minutes as do ignition wires. Injectors changes are also super quick and easy. The fuel pump is super easy to change out with
access cover. No need to cut the back like ls1 or lt1 install or drop the tank.
Cams can be changed out in maybe an hour. The only weakness I think is the mits motor and maybe other import motors is they seem to use a lot more gaskets than the f bodies do.
The aftermarket is also huge for the 2.0 mits and the 2.4 uses many 2.0 parts.
I have crower rods,crower cams,crower springs,manley valves, manley keepers,wiseco pistons,arp hardware.
All good old american parts in my import motor.Even my clutch, turbo, sheet metal custom intake are all american stuff.
I have owned two mits engines now with over 150,000 miles on them. They were /are running good.
And another bonus..my buddy pickd up my mits bottom end with head attached and carried it into the engine shop by himself..no crane ,1 person. Thats pretty impressive..not sure what it weighed.

Yeah the engines are almost bulletproof. It's the trannies, axles and all the other crap that breaks often. Looks like I'm the oldest DSM'er in the thread at 50. Yeah, my son has a '90 GSX with a bad (passing oil) turbo. I need a new one for it soon.

You sure are. I am 27 turning 28 in a few months. These motors are tough. Mike Rizz (NEDSM) did put down 585AWHP a few weeks ago on his stock bottom end 6-bolt. Assuming a 23% drivetrain loss, that's ~ 760HP at the crank. Not too shabby. The motors are tough. Just tune them well.

I'm actually buying a 96 GS-T from a buddy without an engine for $450. I'm getting the block, 5 speed, intercooler, and turbo, but that's it. I cant wait to get it all finished though. Anyone wanna sell me a 2g 4g63t for cheap?

You sound like someone who owns a Ferrari. I don't need anything to pull the ladies. I just need me. Oh yeah, and the ladies giggle when the boost gauge pegs.
