Question Take down on a ls1?

Hey guys I'm new here and didnt know where to post this, but there is a guy my girlfriend plays softball with and he has a 02 T/A WS6 w/exhaust and k&n FIPK kit. Dogs my "old carbed motor" all the time. He will not meet me at the track and I was wondering what times this thing should run. is it even worth chancing the ticket? we would be going from a dig, and I get NO traction what so ever til around 45 on street tires.

His 1/8th mile times are probably around 8.3 @ 85 at best. You should kill him from a stop if you are running high 7's. I run 7.7's but thats with a stalled auto and a lot of other stuff. You would probably run somewhere in the mid 12s I assume, and he would be low 13s. You should have him by a considerable amount but there is no way to tell for certain. If he is an M6 then I would say you have an even better chance (from a stop).

Depends if the guy can drive, he might give you some difficulties, (if your car does mid 12s) do you know if the exhaust includes headers or is it just the cat back? If it's a full exhaust he'll be looking at high 12s (he might even get that with just the lid+catback)
FWIW you'll probably win, but it might be a close race, especially if you blow off your tires at the launch

With a 406, dart heads and a cam how is it that you only trap 84 mph in the 1/8th? My '94 T/A with just a muffler trapped 80 in the 1/8th..

get a good set of DRs. If he's just a catback with an intake, you will woop him. I wound't be surprised if he's not running a bottle on it.

Look at his sig, hes running 7.9 on a 1.64 60Ft. If you can pull that kind of 60ft on the street you should have him, if you spin a lot it will be close. No wonder he doesnt want to race you at the track. better put the DR's on or I dont think you will win, your huge advantage will be that 1.6 60 ft.

Just as you said, at the track. It's much different on the street which are not prepped. DR's will be no sweat for him, assuming he's not hiding a bottle.

if he is m6 his 1/8th mile trap will be 86 or more, at crossville stock mine ran 86.7 mph, with lid and drag radials it ran 88.2 mph so with a catback he "should" trap atleast 88 so it will be close on the street.

If you launch like your sig says you will own him from the dig. From a roll, my bet is on him if he is M6.

Not to mention that no matter what, your going to at least give him a run. I doubt he will be calling your car old carbed whatever if your on his bumper the whole time.

And looking at you' short times, I'moing to hazard a guess that you are a better driver than some guy who refuses to meet you at the track and talks a lot of ****. Nail him. Especially if your car is loud and the cam lopes a bit, he will get nervous and possibly screw up anyway.

I am only running a 3.73 gear and cross traps at 5k in 2nd, i need to run on a 1/4 track and with slicks, 1.6 60's were on bfg dr's. I have a 35k stall on a tci street fighter trans, and yes the cam lopes a bit, xe284 comp cam. I really need a 1/4 track b/c my car is just starting to run right when I cross the traps in second.

anyway we raced tonight, I blew them up in smoke and saw taillights for about 10 seconds then it was all over with but the crying. not a good judge but 5-6 cars to 90 give or take.

If anyone from here in around cookeville I will be heading to buffalo valley aka. mid tn dragway, prolly next weekend.

lol good, im glad you won. LS1 owners talk alot of ****.. a carbed motor is nothing to take lightly, simply because it's carbed.
