Here's what happened when I raced one. Of course I have a 236/236 cam headers, pulley, ported Shaner S3 throttle body, and 4.11 gears. Untuned so I still had to shift at the stock 6,000 rpm instead of 6,800.
That LT4 'Vette had bolt ons and headers. Very strong up top.

The LT4 makes a little bit more horsepower than the LS1, and because of the C4's better areodynamics and less weight, they're usually a few tenths faster, assuming equally good drivers and both are M6's.

The Vette is capable of pulling the F-bod with a great driver, but that having been said, with average drivers, it probably won't, since all (factory) LT4's are M6's and the Vette IRS is harder to launch.

I really hate to hi-jack the thread, but I rolled up on a C4 one day, about to kill it (I thought) and looked down on the fenders and saw ZR1 I went my own way, lol. What are the LT1 (not LT5) capable of compared to a LS1 F-bod, can an LT1 C4 M6 hang with an LS1 f-body at all?

Yeah it can hang, but 90% of the time not win. I rarely...actually i've never seen a stock f-body which means...no drag radials run a 12.9. Most of them with stock tires would run 13.2-13.8, depending upon if it's a 2001-2002 model, manual or automatic.
I would definately say the LT4 vette would take an LS1 stock for stock. It would be a good race though...

well all ls1's are not created equall.
im a 2001 A4 TA convertible...... so since im a vert and auto im supposed to be the slowest.
well i ran a 13.6@104.90 with 2.36 60ft stock with an 8.8 1/8
well now i got some better tires. Fuzion ZRI not drag radial by any means just summer performance tires. and i have a cutout.
i last night ran a 8.2@an unknown speed. in a 1/8 track. multiple people came over to see me. because all night i couldnt get any grip. and finally on that run i was able to go wot almost entirely through 1st gear. the car i beat ran steady 8.4 around 83 mph
and i was pulling away from him. so id guess i was going 84-86 trap. so im good for 12.9to 13.2 range qm. which is awesome for an convertible let alone a automactic. im going next week to be dynoed and tuned
ive watched alot of vetts run mid to high 13's. esp the manuals. its like none of these guys know how to drive them.
i think best 3 out of 5 a Auto LS1 will beat out a LT4 VETTE

It seems that the LT4's make about 300 rwhp stock, so a stock M6 LS1 should make as much if not more power. Should be a good race!
