Default Neck-n-Neck...almost!

So last night i headed out to Midnight Madness at the local track to see my buddy run his bike and just enjoy a nice night watchin' alot of quick cars. Well on my way home my friend brandon points ahead of us and says go catch that car and tells me that he had been beaten by him before (brandon drives a stock, auto 96 stealth)! So i follow him for awhile and once we get out of cop city i pull up next to him. He's drivin' a 99 eclipse GS with an after market turbo setup on it and a list of suspension and performance parts on his driver's door (sounded really good), and his buddy is drivin' next to us in a del sol with a b16 swap (sounded really bad, fart can). We slow to about 50-55mph, i give three honks and we go. I intentionally give him the jump expecting to beat him without a problem, well much to my surprise he stayed right with me. My front end was at his front tire. From 55 to about 90 we stayed just like that and then started inchin' forward, i think we were about even when he honked again to stop the race, at about 100-103 cause we were coming up on construction. If we had continued any further i woulda lost due to my damn speed governer (108 mph). Afterwards we stoped and exchanged kind words, and what was done to our cars. I'm not sure how much money he had in it but i think quite a bit cause the last gs-t i raced i smoked with no problem. He seemed a little disheartened though when i told him i was completely stock with a LT1, auto, and 2:73's, and that i had 2 more people in my car (he was alone in his) .

Sorry for the long pointless story, but i don't get too many races around here!

Oh, yeah that del sol, he disappeared in my rear-veiw mirror after 60 mph, haha! So guess i get to count that as a kill, cause he was racin' too!

nice kill, nothing to get your blood pumping like a close race. BTW what would an A4 2.74 LT1 run more or less??? I'm guessing low 14's?

I'm not sure, but I think it should run somewhere around a 14.3-14.5 maybe a little lower, i'm guessin' a 14.1 at best? I didn't run cuz the lines were long and they didn't have the scoreboard, light-tree, or clocks runnin'. It was supposed to be more of a grudge match type of night, with no times.

Yep, they have the same type thing around here called Friday Night Street Races. Good way to keep racing off the streets, but no times.

There was a Turbo GS Eclipse out there last night that raced a buddies bone stock, '06 Eclipse and my friend beat him by 1/2-1 car. The GS motors arent that impressive turboe'd, same motor thats in the '95-'99 Neon but with 500-600 more pounds of car to lug around.

Nice kill though!

haha, you left out the part where he chickened out on going from a dig... that was funny. At least he knew his front-driver's place! (I was watching from the back seat, it was a fun one)

Damn, I take races for granted. You can usually get 1 race for every 30 minutes of prowling....Nice kill.

Yeah if I am agressive I can find what I want race wise. But you live in paradise man. Geez every half hour?! I need to move. Preferably somewhere with more terminators.

My 95 LT1 TA A4 would pull my friends 89 5.0 that he claimed ran a 14.0 I also caught up to an 350Z from a 40 punch (i know, HORRID spot, and he jumped me too) by 90. I think I had a freak though. Only mod was a Moroso CAI. Raced an A4 LS1 TA and pulled him until 55 when he blew by and put about 2 cars on me by 70 when i gave up, lol. Good kill.

well i used to have a 97LT1 with just a SLP Dual Filter Intake. i also had stripped threading in my heads(spark plugs), lost compression. i beat an LS1 from a dig until 100 then he pulled way in front til 150+(speedo was buried). mine was an a4 too. i have 3 or 4 friends who can vouch for it too. i luv the low end power of the LT1s but u cant compare the top end of the LS1s

Yeah i forgot about that part, it was pretty good too. I kept tryin' to get him to go from a dig but he wouldn't for the world. I almost took 20 bucks outta my wallet to intice him but i got the vibe that there was now way in hell he was gonna go from a dig! Oh well, it was fun non the less!

BTW anyone want an unmolested highway driven LT1 T/A, beautiful car!!!
