Well earlier tonight when I was chilling with with my boys at In N Out, a STI comes up with another regular WRX and revs up. So one of my friends starts laughing out loud and pointing at him. Well they ask him what we got and we all came in my car, so I tell him that 04 Cobra. So I ask him what he has, and he tells me its stock with a grin on his face and all his friends start laughing. So Im guessing he had something in it. So im like thats koo Im bone stock(as i am except for my BFG DR's). So we to a little spot where there is no traffic. I heat up the DR's and line up. So my friend flags and drops his hands. We take off and STI gets about a 2 car jump. Damn IRS . I hit second and start reeling him in. When I hit third I am a fender in front. And at the end I got him by about 1.5 cars. He wants to go again. We go again, and this time I launch a little bit lower on the rpm and he launches about 1.5 cars on me, but i start reeling him in again. This time i get him by 2 cars. Well i go back to the starting line and get my friends and the guy in the STI said he wants to go again in 2 weeks. I said sure and left.

 

Good kill, bro. Once again, import money will have to be LARGE to beat ya. I bet he goes and spends 2500 on a new turbo or intercooler, just to be even with ya stock.

 

ill give ya credit good kill, but that sti is about 300hp stock weighs about 400-500 pounds less, and has no top end. if your ever near florida and you wanna race a real sti i could see if i could set you up with my friend, i just posted a thread not long ago about him racing a 03-04 cobra, scroll down if ya wanna read it, but he runs about 405hp and 600 pounds less, aside from a 100 shot. alot of the teen age rice kids think they know how to drive those to, its alot different then shiftn in some ratty honda or eclipse.

 

Nice kill. Not surprised though. A DR Cobra well driven is going to aout ET/trap the average wiseass no matter what he's in. I will say that 360 or so to the wheels of the STi is not all that hard to do. But it is more than the average kid with a MBC and exsaust is going to get. Which he knows now heh. Though I would'nt laugh at an STi without knowing what its' got personally.

Tubros hardly cost $2500 though. My dream turbo is like $1400. And show me a $2500 IC and I'll show you a money laundering scam.

The kid will need more to win for sure, who knows if he will have enough in 2 weeks. Get a pulley and bet $$.

 

A GT35R kit for about 2500 bucks and some smaller supporting mods and he's close to 500 to the wheels . Those STI's are pretty easy to make quick. And if he still beat you outta the hole a by a couple cars and you're on drag radials he must not be afraid to launch his car, which is the case with most STI/EVO owners.

 

Yeah, if hes launching that car that hard, and dude has a stock Cobra, I would say that he can't be much more than stock either. STI's run low 13's, and Cobra's high 12's. Anyway nice run. But your friend is a moron for laughing at a STI.

 

If he spends $2500 on a turbo, it better be the size of my head... And don't start the import needs big money to win arguement. I have proved that wrong many times.

 

Yah well the guy in the STI has to be a moron also for reving at an 04 Cobra. But Im not really tripping. My friend has a NX nitrous kit laying around. Ill put 100 shot on just to be safe

 

There are a ton of 11 second STI/EVO's around here. He's pretty retarded though since he knew what he was running and he thought he could take down a 12 second car. I dunno what the hell his friends were laughing about since he might have had just a turboback exhaust. Still not Cobra territory.

Why is his friend a "moron" for laughing at an STI?? The car is practically a charicature of itself, with its overstated styling, 4 door sedan body, massive wing, and overly large hood scoop. It just screams "ricer" and "boy racer".

its been done, maybe not in nj, but down here we can do it. i dont have one, but i have two different friends with ones. one guy before he modded his sti used to do it every other weekend. actually had rally type tires on it. you realize the only thing they change in a rally version sti vs the sti they sell, is the making the car lighter, different head lights and a roll cage. the suspension stays the same along with the engine. minus a tunes and some other minor things. like i said theres a difference between a 33k dollar foriegn car and a 13k honda rice getter

 

Theres a group in Cali that does it, they're called the Gravel Crew I believe. They hold there own rally events in there cars. Pretty cool to watch cuz some of those guys can really drive. A lot of the up and coming D1 guys use there events for practice.

How do you lauch at a car that very well can be much faster than your car? I think he was laughing because they guy was revving at him, not because they look stupid.

take the stickers, tires, lights, roll cage and the other scoop off and theres no difference between the cars they sell here and those they race in europe....yea, thats why i think its sweet, id like to see someone try to do that in a honda
