That 408 makes some nice power on nitrous. However, he who
has traction generally wins. Time for a built rear and some sticky tires.

I've been in the same boat though...big power, no hook. I've resolved
that finally.

Everyone keeps pushing for the 9".
If you really want a "bulletproof" 9", it's got to have a spool or a locker. A posi will always be the weak link in a 9". I learned that the hard way.

A spool damned near = a racecar. None for me thanks.

^ If that's the case, a Strange 12 bolt with a heavy duty posi is a great choice.

I have a spool in my 12 bolt, no problems there. However, sharp corners require some throttle goosing to get around. Now if ya want the durability and straight arrow performance of the spool with the drivabilty of limited slip, do what I did with my Cobra. Put in an Auburn Electric Ekted diff. Switch ON, SPOOL city, switch off, LS posi. The diff was a bit pricey at $800.00 but bulletproof. You wouldn't believe how much harder that car pulled with the switch on. The difference felt like the SOTP difference between stock pulley and a 2.8 with tune.

That sounds like a good alternative. Any links? If non-sponsor, I'd like a pm

PM sent. For others who may have interest in this just contact your local diff shop or Google for it. It was a great unit. It held several 5K launches on slicks without issues up around the 500/500 level.

What are the limits with a Moser 12 bolt? My car has just under 450 at the wheels and I recently twisted the driveshaft and broke the factory torque arm from a roll.

I raced on a damp road in the fog against a pullied '03 with me on 31X14.5/15 Hoosier QTP's and him on MT DR's. I had him by 12 at the 1000' mark when I lifted and he had 40 more RWHP than me. Traction is king. Nothin' quite like a 1.3x short time to get the blood goin'.

You need to have a rematch. That should fix your conscious, assuming you come prepared.

Nope, definately not a myth. Ya might have some trouble geeting the fatties I run under that thing though. I like the QTP's, stick like glue.
