Default STS Rear turbo Z28 goes down

Finally had a little action sat night at the local spot. Kept getting run off all our normal spots so we decided to just cruise around a little... I see a couple of guys I know at another location off the highway and swing around to shoot the shyt. Well, right as I pull up and shut my car off this red 98+ls1 Z28 pulls up next to me and ask's, "You gonna run the cobra tonight", I responded with "yeah, thats cool, dead stop or from a roll", he responded, "lets go from a 40 punch".... So I noticed he was on drag radials but his car was very quite. I didn't really ask him what every mod he had, just wanted to run, if I win or loss, atleast I got a run in. We proceeded to the highway (which is on tape) and next thing you know I here is turbo spool (didn't know he had a sts at the time) and he brake boosted it right at 40mph, 3 honks and we are off.. Keep in mind I have a full tank and my brother is video taping which he his a big guy too and the z28 was just the driver... I proceed to put about 3/4 of a car in 2nd, he's at my bumper in 3rd, pull him about 1.5 cars total through top of 4th (120mph or so).. After the race he wouldn't talk to me and never saw him again... thought I would share..

Nice kill. I'm not impessed with the sts systems. There where a couple of vids floating around where an Ls1 gets walked by a civic and a new rsx type-s with 16psi.

?

There's countless people putting down 500rwhp out of them. Just because you see videos of some losing doesn't make it a bad kit. It's put up great numbers and many posted 11s with the kit on a bone stock ls1. There's allot of non-drivers, than good ones.

Besides, lets see that video.

Thanks.. Yeah it slowley starts dropping off around 5900rpm, it pulls to about 6300rpm.. Tomarrow I am pulling the 4.10's out and putting the 3.55's back in. I lost .1 tenth and 3-4mph with the 4.10's, but had a better 60' time with the 4.10's... Blown/turbo cars like steeper gear's i assume from what I've read and seen and experienced so far.

Hey, how's it going? Your car runs good. It suprised me when I heard the turbo spool and really thought I was fixing to get beat up on. I am switching back to my 3.55's tomarrow and will run you again if weather is good.

Actually i saw alot of cars with STS systems that really impressed me & even others...For the records on the Dyno many of vettes , GTOs and F-Bodies hit 500-550rwhp with stock shortblocks & 600-800+rwhp with big CI or forged shortblocks...On the track several hit 11's to low 9's & times improving day after day buddy so whatever i heard it's a damn respectfull system & it has been proven period....i would get one any day

Yeah, it was a good race. I saw the cop over at hobby lobby so i figured that is why you didn't go left at the exit, he had someone pulled over and was actually a pretty cool cop.. he came up to use and we where going to leave but he said as long as we do not get loud or trash the lot we could stay... you know how long that lasted with all the rice around..

I have been trying to get the cocky dude in the white lt1 t/a with the blue stripe with telstars to run me, but his response to me was "cobra's don't stand a chance"... Funny thing is with this dude, he asked my mods and I said pulley and the normal boltons... then he said, "you are going to need more than underdrive pulleys"

LOL, Play dumb and tell him you thought underdrive pullies were good and you got it at autozone. I'd love to see the look on his face as you pull his **** something fierce.

Nice cars to both. Be safe and have fun!

are cobra's hard cars to shift? i always see alot of guys with cobras running horrible times because they miss 2nd or 3rd gear.

Nah, it's shifter location is alot different from f-body's/vettes and it took some time to adapt from my ws6, but alot of cobra owners don't know how to launch or shift.. I know stock it ran 8.60's, then bolt-on's (no pulley) it ran 8.20's, then pullied it ran 7.80's and all these on street tires..

Once I lightened up a little and had some sticky tires it ran 7.55, but I know it has a 7.30 - 7.20 in it.. well see
