Default 99 head/cam + spray vs 97 750 GSX-R

Well last night this guy was talkin smack about my car when I pulled into the local hangout. I had never raced a bike up until this point and didn't know how I would fare against one. My buddy told me it was a 97 750 GSX-r that was geared, exhaust, intake, or few small things. I had just filled the nitrous bottle up earlier that day and hadn't sprayed it yet. So I figured what the hell I'll race this guy. So I go and turn the bottle on.... its at 900 psi. Well it's pretty hot outside and the fuel is running fat on my car so I figured I'll heat it up to about 1000 psi.

So we head out and the plan was a 45 roll. I didn't know if this would be a good spot to race a bike but I figured I would try it. So we head out and go from 3 honks at 45. I activate the switch and get ready. I'm at about 4k RPMS at 45 mph in 2nd gear. I honk 3 times and smash into it. I pull about a half car instantly ( dunno if he heard the honks or not) so I shift to 3rd and he is right on my ***. All through 3rd he is dead on my *** and can't pass me. I shift to 4th and he pulls and is at my front fender. Through 4th he pulls me slightly and has about a bike on me at most. I shift to 5th gear finally at about 120ish or so. Then I slowly start to real him in and pass him at about 135-140ish and then I shut down.

I know this bike is an older bike but how do they fair against the new 600s? I saw the bike the other day at the track go a 6.9 in the 1/8th. Although I'm happy with the car I thought from reading on here he would murder me but it was a close race. Closest race I have had so far.

Good kill. Before everyone else comes in here saying "you beat the rider, not the bike!" A kill is a kill.

well hey with ur mods u should be able to beat him. i had a run in with a gsxr 600 the other night on my way home. my mods are in my sig and i had a passenger with me. i ran him from a 60mph roll in 2nd gear. he jumped me about 1 to 1 1/2 cars til about 4th gear then i started to reel him in and had maybe 1 car or bike by 160+mph. now maybe i just beat the rider too, but it was still fun. do u think the rider couldnt drive?

600's are 600's. The newer ones are faster, but they are still light beginner bikes.

It's hard to believe you stayed with him...
750's are fast, even the older ones. (mid to late 90's)
Suzuki still makes a GSXR 750, and it runs the 1/4 in under 10 seconds.

Nice Kill, but for me, its hard to believe. You must have sprayed alot to stay in front of him.
All motor with only 400hp and 4.10's, a 1990 750 would walk on you.
So maybe it was the driver... maybe not.... but w/o that N20 bottle, i dont see much of a race happening.
Another " bottle victory "

good kill....the older 750 are fast but nothing like the newer bikes....a 05/06 600 will beat that bike all day long. Always fun racing bikes on a roll...

I believe it, but it might have been the rider unless you are at about 150 shot. Looks like that should be enough the hold one off. Under that and it would be the rider. A 97 750 isn't as fast as a new 600.

Well from what I know people said the rider is pretty good. For that old bike to do a 6.9 in the 1/8th most people said he could ride. Because my buddy was out there and he has a gsx-1000 that went 5.90's in the 1/8th and he said he was a good rider. But yah I was sprayed a little over a 125 shot. The dual nozzle setup I had equal to about a 135 rwhp shot.

I believe it.

I raced a 2001 GSXR 600 from a 60 go and he pulled about 3 cars on me. I was only pressing about 400 to the wheels. A 150 shot would have more then made up for that and then some.

Congrats. Nice kill on the 2 wheeler!
You asked about this older GSXR750 compaired to the new 600's,not even close .
My buddy had a ZX6R (636) Ninja 04,and he will be the first to admit he cannot launch it all that well. He ran a 10.9 @ 127 his first time at the track with it.

That is killer for a beginner(drag racer/rider) on a 600.

Now he has a 04 ZX10R and that thing would take my 02 R1 with no troubles.

Good Kill.
Dave
