I promise man, after two years of prowling the streets of Hobbs ive seen all the imports it has to offer. Yea, there are only 60,000 people here but there are plenty of fast domestics! The closest thing to a mean import here is my own mechanics DODGE (not even an import) SRT4 that runs 12.9 during the heat of the day. At night after hot lappin at the track you can see the turbo actually GLOW. This is the fastest front wheel drive car for miles around. Around here if your honda hits anything 14's you are king ****. We have at least 5 f-bodies out there every weekend and they all hit 13's at least. One time a guy visiting from Colo. brought a 97 turbo Supra but he ran 13.6 at best and this was with several bolt ons. There is a N/A 95 RX-7 but he runs low 15's. Only other one worth mentioning was an stock automatic Supra i smoked repeatedly. He too was a visitor from El Paso. I bet the best heda ran was a low 14, and yes it was a turbo. We even went to Roswell thinking that this dude with a mad boosted crx would give us some. This thing had the entire interior ripped out with one seat, 5 point harness, and a roll cage. Impressive right? Muth***ucker ran a 14.3.
I forgot though. There is a 97 Supra hidden away somwhere in town that was for sale for a while. I checked it out. He had a page of mods but most were for looks and apparently the car had been totaled and rebuilt. This dude was claiming 11.7 but all he had performance wise was an extra 4 psi boost, BOV, and 50 shot (yea,50?). Later i learned that the dude got those times off of a G-tech. Just so ya dont ask he wanted $28K which was rediculous!

Couple things wierd about this post. There are no N/A RX-7s made in any of those newer model years. FD's in those years run 13.5 stock on average and all ever made were Twin Turbo.
Second, bolt-ons, with an extra 4 PSI and a 50 shot could make it run a 11.7, so I wouldn't doubt that. And $28K for a 97 Supra is a pretty good deal if it was in good condition with less than 70K miles. And if it was rebuilt it might be worth it too depending on mileage and what was rebuilt.
And I know for sure there are some fast imports in New Mexico somewhere, because I just watched a video of a 800 whp Supra racing a 1300 whp Viper and a Hayabusa in NM.

OH, and dude, I know my RX-7's. They didn't make N/A's...
Your freind doesnt know what hes ralking about, there is no type R. He needs to do some learning try out rx7club.com.
86-91 were either NA or turbo, most were NA and the turbo ones are TurboIIs.
Those are called FCs
The FD is the newer model from 93 and up, it only comes turbo we never got a non turbo model. Hope this info helps..........
fd is the last gen of rx-7 93-95 in the usa. they were all twin turbo.
as for new mexico not having many fast imports a know of a 89 supra, 91 laser and other dsm, a evo and a few civic that are in the high low 13's to high 11's.
all in las cruces. we have a few more people than hobbs so am assuming that abl has even more.
look at alamogordo, home of matt monet and dynamic racing. they have a supra thats in the mid 10's and matt monnet just broke his own record of fastest 3000gt/stealth running a 9.8 at roswell.
